Hari-sauri dasa: Service opportunity – Assistant Librarian at Bhaktivedanta Research Centre (BRC) Kolkata<\/p>\n
BRC has an immediate opening for a full time Assistant Librarian<\/p>\n
Applicant Must be<\/p>\n
* fully computer competent<\/p>\n
* Knowledgeable in English and Bengali (Sanskrit is a big plus) or be willing to learn at least Bengali writing and speaking.<\/p>\n
* Have a love of books and an enthusiasm to preach<\/p>\n
* Be willing to learn on the job as well as take necessary educational courses<\/p>\n
Service includes cataloging; indexing; preservation of old books and manuscripts by scanning and other methods; interfacing with other institutions and libraries; travelling to various locations for increasing the database of works; translation and publishing etc.<\/p>\n
This is a full-time service. Successful candidate will be provided a room and boarding at the BRC in Kolkata.<\/p>\n
We stress that we are looking for an applicant who is a full-time practicing devotee who wishes to take this up as a service rather than a job. However a small stipend is also provided if required.<\/p>\n
We regret that applicants must be male because we cannot accommodate females in our current facility, unless a female applicant has her own living arrangements and can easily commute from her home.<\/p>\n
We envision this to be an ideal engagement for a young, motivated graduate from our ISKCON school system but we welcome applications from any interested party.<\/p>\n
