ECO-Vrindaban (ECOV) is a non-profit that assists ISKCON New Vrindaban, with a special focus on the cow protection and self-sufficiency aspects of the over-all mission. <\/p>\n
To further these goals, ECOV would like to engage a qualified person as head of its newly created “Gardens and Produce Department.” <\/p>\n
The position is full-time and salaried, commensurate with experience. <\/p>\n

Department:\t\t\tGardens & Produce<\/p>\n
Mission:\tMake the gardens attractive, a place where pilgrims, visitors, community members can find their connection with a natural way of living; create a proper service mood among the staff and support the temple with outstanding produce.<\/p>\n
Goal:\tProduce vegetables and flowers for the New Vrindaban community as per Srila Prabhupada\u2019s instructions. Make sure the garden looks attractive throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Requirements\/Skills:
\nKnowledge and experience in organic food production and garden management.
\nAbility to interact and communicate in a friendly manner with all types of people.
\nAbility to supervise staff and volunteers, assign duties and evaluate service.
\nAbility to value other people\u2019s contributions and to express appreciation.
\nAbility to deal with problems, time sensitive matters and difficult people.
\nOrganizational and administrative skills.
\nSteady, reliable, responsible, exemplary character.
\nAbility to follow budget and financial plan<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:
\nPlan the new season based on the needs of the temple;
\nPrepare the garden for each season (e.g. preparing the soil, planting the seeds, maintaining the crops, harvesting, etc.);
\nManaging the day to day operation of the gardens, which includes managing the garden staff and volunteers;
\nMaintaining an attractive, healthy garden;
\nManaging budgets and financial plans as well as controlling expenditures;
\nInform the head of the kitchen one week in advance about planned harvest;
\nFood processing and storage
\nEnsure safety for all staff members, volunteers and guests;
\nEnsuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
\nCare and maintenance of machinery and power tools as appropriate.
