These men were receptive to the chanting and responded in kirtan. The officer in charge of the jail encouraged the prisoners to read Bhagavad-gita. Bhima Prabhu, speaking in Hindi. told them that Nelson Mandela had memorized slokas from the Gita when he was imprisoned in South Africa.
