Bhagavad Gita Goes to Campus: a Talk Show at School of Information Management and Computer Engineering (STIKOM) Bali<\/p>\n

Technology plays a very important rule in development and changes in any generation, particularly information technology. This technology certainly brings a lot of benefits for all of us in all aspects of life. Young generation is far more intelligent and critically compared with previous generations. The advance of the technology leads them to enter the global world that they can see and learn everything from worldwide world, without any filter and privacy. Young generation is very curios. They will try to search what make them curious until they get the answer. A Group of student in STIKOM (School of Information Management and Computer Engineering) Bali answered their curiosity in spiritual by organizing a talk show on Bhagavad gita on February 1, 2014. Srila Prabhupada stated on his letter \u201d….That is a good sign that the students are still intellegent to find what is the best information about God and how to approach Him\u2026.<\/i>\u201d SPL to Krishnakanti, 29 November, 1970. On the other letter Srila Prbhupada also stated that \u201cThese engagements at school and collage is most important task. If school become interest with our philosophy and we can introduce these books, than it is our success\u201d.<\/i> SPL to Rupanuga, 1 December 1970.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The talk show was given by H.H.Subhag Swami Maharaj which continued for about 2 hours. The participants were the students and lecturers of School of Information Management and Computer Engineering (STIKOM) Bali. The talk show started at 9.00 am local time which was held in the auditorium hall of the school. The vice rector Mr. I Made Adi purwantara, ST.,M.Kom also presented on the talk show along with his staffs. The committee targeted only 200 students presented on the talk show but when it started more students were attended and the committee should prepared extra chairs for them. The auditorium hall was full of students and lectures and the devotees sing Hare Krishna Mahamantra in melodious ways before maharaj started to speak. The students and the lectures enjoyed the bhajan played.<\/p>\n

As Srila Prabhupada stated in his other letter \u201c\u2026it is nice that you are infiltrating into the schools and colleges. These are the best customers for our philosophy. Give them nice philosophy\u2026\u201d (letter: SPL to Danavir, 12 December,1971).<\/p>\n

The lecturer at the STIKOM, His Grace Kusuma Wardhana along with The Family of Hindu College Students (KMH-keluarga mahasiswa Hindu) STIKOM Bali organized the Talk show for the benefit of her students as the were getting a rare opportunity to hear about Krishna Consciousness from a disciple of Srila Prabhupada. <\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

Maharaj started the seminar. Maharaja explained the Bhagavad-gita from science\u2019s point of view. The students followed the seminar attentively. They listened the seminar attentively. Maharaja gave seminar for two hours. Many raised questions during the question and answer session expressing their eagerness to learn from Maharaj. Maharaj answer all their questions and wiped out all of the doubt by sweet answer that could cool the heart. Maharaja closed the seminar by requesting the participants chanting Hare Krishna Mahamantra. All students were ecstasy singing Hare Krishna Mahamantra. The students and the teachers were very much satisfied with the new knowledge they got from the talk show lecture. <\/p>\n

After the seminar many students and lectures bought Bhagavad gita and other Srilla Prabhupada\u2019s book. Maharaj personally signed the book that purchased at that time. there were 38 Bhagavad gita and 22 other Srila Prabhupada\u2019s books. Prabhupada mention in his letter that \u201cSo I can see that there is very good potency at the present moment for spreading this movement as was desired by my Guru Maharaja, and I am simply trying my best to carry out His desire. And if some of my students adopt this attitude, without any other motivation, surely Krishna will fulfill our desire. So push on with book publication and distribution, and I am very glad that you are now distributing to schools and libraries<\/i>. SPL to Govinda Maharaja September 22nd, <\/sup>1970. The Program concluded with the disstribution of prasadam to all who attended the seminar. <\/p>\n
