He is a servant of Krsna and is Krsna Himself. He puts an end to unlimited sufferings and bestows the supreme bliss.”

The pastime of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhana Hill festival was celebrated at the New Godruma Dhama farm, Lanchang in a simple yet grand manner on 24 October 2014. About 200 devotees from Kuala Lumpur, Seremban, Bahau, Johore and other parts of Malaysia attended. Also present were volunteer workers from Scotland, America, England and Holland. Though it is a rainy season now and it did rain heavily the night before the festival, the morning of the festival saw a wonderful weather and surely Lord Indra had a hand in it. It is always nice to see devotees respecting mother cow and taking the trouble to drive up to the farm for this festival. It is also a special day when we all get to feed mother cows. The outcome of the celebration, needless to say was as usual the invocation of our love for sweet Lord Krsna and the great Thakurji Himself in the form of majestic Govardhan hill who deserves all our salutations and obeisance. The whole program for the day was neatly organized and pulled up by HG Gokul Damodara Prabhu and HG Gopesa Govinda Prabhu. The place was very nicely decorated with all natural elements… Indeed it was a real eco-friendly arrangement. It created a replica of real Govardhana in Vrindavan with the farm, cows, trees etc. Devotees also made a beautiful Govardhana hill with rice, halwa and other bhoga.

The programme started with Go puja, worship of mother cow. Devotees enthusiastically fed the cows jaggery, fruits and sweet rice that they brought especially for the cows. It was nice to see that even the children were not scared to feed our cows. This was followed by a class given by His Grace Simhesvara prabhu, regional secretary for ISKCON Malaysia and also heading the farm project. H G Simhesvara prabhu narrated the Govarhdhana lila and importance of the festival and also the need of worshiping and taking care of cows. Next was Govardhana puja which was followed by circumambulation of Govardhan hill. First the cow and calf were taken to circumambulate the Govardhan hill and they were fed Govardhan maha parsadam and then the devotees did the circumambulation. It is mentioned in scriptures that it’s extremely auspicious to feed Mother cows and worship them on this particular day as it will satisfy Krsna most and by circumambulating the Govardhan hill, one is freed from the bites of the snakes. All devotees were seen immersed while the song “Jaya Radhe Jaya Krsna Jaya Vrndavan” was sung after circumambulating Giri Govardhan.

After that Damodarastakam was sung and every one was given an opportunity to offer ghee lamp to Lord Damodara. The kids were engaged in coloring a drawing of Lord Krishna and Giri Govardhan which was drawn by one of the volunteers at farm who is from Pakistan. The international group of volunteers who are helping with the farm activities also made a nice art of Lord Krishna. It was amazing to see their enthusiasm in doing that though for all of them this is the first ever “Hare Krishna” experience.

The festival concluded with distribution of sumptuous prasadam that was served on banana leaves. H G Sevananda prabhu served fresh sugar cane juice from his very own sugar cane plantation in the farm. Throughout the event, Lord Indra mercifully provided good sun shine and not rain, so the whole event was executed per plan and became a great success yet again this year. Atleast for a day devotees experienced a glimpse of farm life with trees, hills, cows and nature. Govardhan Ki Jai! Giriraj Ki Jai! Srila Prabhupad Ki Jai!

By SJMKL

By Iskcon Malaysia

The programme started with Go puja, worship of mother cow.
