Today morning at around 8am, i received a call from HG Adya Prabhu (ACBSP) that HG Rasa Parayana Prabhu (ACBSP) is been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he is at the final stage of his life. He said that the doctors had given up on him and to please inform Jayapataka Swami. Both these wonderful disciples of Srila Prabhupada, and godbrothers of Jayapataka Swami, are from Irvine, California. HG Rasa Parayana Prabhu (RPP) had served together along with Jayapataka Swami in Mayapur in the mid 70’s. Both had traveled by boat doing the food relief program to many villages in Nawadhip Dham during the massive flood. RPP use to drive the boat. There are photos depicting this. Rasa Parayana Prabhu also use to drive Jayapataka Swami around the villages in Nawadhip Dham by jeep when they were on preaching programs and sometimes to buy materials to build Srila Prabhupada’s building in Mayapur.<\/p>\n

Adya Prabhu told me that he is on his way along with a group of devotees to the house of RPP to do kirtan. He said he will call me after reaching there. At around 11am, I informed Jayapataka Swami when he had just gotten ready after his shower. Gm was quiet for a while and he told me to make a call now. When I called, Adya Prabhu replied that he is just next to RPP. Unfortunately, RPP was in the stage where he was unable to speak anymore but he could still listen well. First, Adya Prabhu updated Jayapataka Swami on RPP’s health. Then Adya Prabhu kept his phone next to RPP. Before speaking to RPP Jayapataka Swami chanted the Pancattatva and Hare Krishna Mahamantra . He then told RPP “You had spent some part of your devotional life serving Mayapur Dham, so I should tell you some nice pastimes of Lord Caitanya during his childhood. Do you want to hear?” We barely could hear the voice of RPP saying yes. Then Adya Prabhu said, “Yes, he is very eager to hear the pastime.”<\/p>\n

Gm then narrated the pastime of Nimai receiving upanayana – ‘sacred thread ceremony.’ It was a beautiful narration filled with emotion. At the end of the pastime, Jayapataka Swami said, “Whoever hears this pastime will attain the shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Gauranga.” Then we heard the joyful and loud voice of RPP calling out, “Hari Bol!!” Gm then sang the Mahamantra over the phone. The devotees around RPP and around Jayapataka Swami repeated after Jayapataka Swami. I could see that Jayapataka Swami was not able to contain himself and finally he broke into tears, thinking his wonderful god brother who may leave his association anytime.<\/p>\n

Before ending the call Jayapataka Swami blessed RPP’s good wife Parvati Mataji and the other devotees who were there at that moment. After ending the call, Jayapataka Swami was very quiet, and then he said, ” RPP likes to eat flat rice, yogurt and koi. Actually that was our main food those days when we had nothing to eat.”<\/p>\n

As I was ending the diary here, I received a call from Adya Prabhu again. I sensed the call, and I was right, “HG Rasa Parayana Prabhu has left his body.” Said Adya Prabhu. He left his body at 4.20am (California, USA time) during the brahma muhurta hours. My breathing became thicker and heavier. Adya prabhu continued,” RPP was so cheerful after the conversation with Jayapataka Swami this morning, especially after listening to the pastime, and he left the body in KC way, with so much spiritual vibration, without going through any pain.” I informed Jayapataka Swami about RPP’s glorious passing while he was just wheeling out from his room to give his evening Katha. Before beginning Srila Prabhupada Katha for tonight, Jayapataka Swami spoke about RPP and made a group prayers for his safe journey back home back to godhead.<\/p>\n

All glories to HG Rasa Parayana Prabhu! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!<\/p>\n
