This is dedicated to the lotus feet of Bhaktiswaroop Damodar Gosvami Maharaja in which an analysis of formally marrying Science and Spirituality is envisioned. Srila Sripada Maharaja has been a pioneer in this area and therefore this is being dedicated in his memory.<\/p>\n

The first thing which we notice is that real Spirituality is a Science which is experienced when it is practised. For example without actually chanting the \u2018Hare Krishna Mahamantra\u2019 with full concentration one cannot know the effectiveness of the Holy Name.<\/p>\n

Krishna describes in Bhagavad-Gita that the knowledge that He is giving has both Knowledge (Jnana) and Vijnana (Science). Krishna says:<\/p>\n[ Idam Tu Te Guhyatamam, Pravakshyami Anasuyave,
\n Jnana Vijnana Sahitam, Yad Jnatva Mokshyase Ashubhaat.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Supreme Lord said: My dear Arjuna, because you are never envious of Me, I shall impart to you this most secret wisdom, knowing which you shall be relieved of the miseries of material existence.\u201d \u2013 BG

The use of material science is being done in order to solve the problems related to body and mind and the Spiritual science can be used not only to solve the material problems but all other problems because all the problems are experienced due to lack of Spiritual knowledge.<\/p>\n

When one understands clearly Krishna\u2019s statement:<\/p>\n[ Na Jayate Mriyate Va Kadachit, Nayam Butva Bhavita Va Na Bhuyah,
\n Ajo Nityam Shashvatoyam Purano, Na Hanyate Hanyamane Sharire.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the soul there is never birth nor death. Nor, having once been, does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain.\u201d \u2013 BG 2.20 – http:\/\/www.asitis.com\/2\/20.html ]\n

Krishna is clearly stating here a Sceince which solves all the problems experienced in the material world. Who will not agree that the greatest problem in the material world is that a person who is born has to die?<\/p>\n

But, Krishna here gives the knowledge that the real us never dies. Because it is Aja (Unborn), Nitya
\n(Eternal), and Oldest (Purana) and it does not get destroyed when the body is destroyed.<\/p>\n

When one is realised in this knowledge there is nothing which is going to trouble the person, because the real person inside the temporary bodily encagement can never be harmed under any circumstance.<\/p>\n

Therefore this is the fundamental knowledge that Science has to accept from Spirituality. And once this fundamental relationship between Sceince and Spirituality is established beyond doubt then the marriage of Science with Spirituality will just be a formality.<\/p>\n

Bhakti Svarupa Damodara Maharaja has gone a long way in establishing this and surely all the devotees are supporting and increasing his wonderful legacy in their own unique way.<\/p>\n
