{"id":26786,"date":"2016-04-25T14:37:27","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T12:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=26786"},"modified":"2016-04-25T14:37:27","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T12:37:27","slug":"bhaktivedanta-manor-given-planning-permission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=26786","title":{"rendered":"Bhaktivedanta Manor given planning permission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/QZyoeXT.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/center><br \/>\n<center><em>L-R: Srutidharma das (Temple President of Bhaktivedanta Manor), Brian Vermeulen of Cottrell and Vermeulen, and Gauri das (Managing Director of Bhaktivedanta Manor).<\/em><\/center><\/p>\n<p><strong>By Steven Brown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Planners unanimously gave consent for a new community building at a Hindu temple.<\/p>\n<p>The Hertsmere Borough Council&#8217;s planning committee officially granted planning permission for a new development on the grounds of Bhaktivedanta Manor, in Aldenham on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The application is to build a two storey community building or a Haveli, as well as relocating the existing poly tunnels, greenhouses and playground.<\/p>\n<p>Gauri das, managing director at the temple, said: \u201cWe are exceptionally pleased to receive planning permission to build our community facility at Bhaktivedanta Manor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver many years of work including the development of a planning brief, a public consultation, and one and a half years awaiting a determination, we listened carefully and patiently to local residents concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the end the concerns were all addressed and thus the decision unanimous. We are extremely grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The originally planning application was submitted in December 2014 and over the past 16 months a number of revised changes have been made to the application.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr David Lambert, who represents Aldenham West, was originally opposed to the application following numerous complaints from the residents of Letchmore Heath.<\/p>\n<p>However, during the planning meeting the officer Karen Humphries said the application has been accepted by the residents of Letchmore Heath.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Lambert said: \u201cI am really pleased we have reached this point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would not have been successful without the work gone in by the officers. It has been a long time coming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI commend the officer\u2019s hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other councillors agreed with Cllr Lambert including Cllr Seamus Quilty who asked the Manor to provide a master plan for the whole site and what they want to do in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Temple president Sruti Dharma Das said: \u201cThank you to our local councillors and Hertsmere Planners, who worked hard to balance the needs of the temple and the local community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere could be no win lose decision here, it had to be a win win.
