Srila Prabhupada found the Mexican people pious. Their humility, simplicity, and devotion was reminiscent of the people of India. \u201cMexico is very much like India,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

That evening Citsukh\u0101nanda stood in Prabhup\u0101da\u2019s room, about to leave. \u201c\u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da, I am almost ashamed to tell you\u2014I know you should rest\u2014but I feel I should at least inform you that we have the opportunity to be on a national television program tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh?\u201d Prabhup\u0101da replied. \u201cHow many people will watch?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout thirty million. It\u2019s the most popular show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThirty million?\u201d \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da\u2019s eyes widened. \u201c\u2018Then we must go.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Prabhup\u0101da, you won\u2019t be able to get off the program until maybe one or two in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prabhup\u0101da: \u201cThat\u2019s all right. We can sleep during the day.\u201d \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da was not at all reluctant, as he had seen that the people were eager to hear him. The great response they had shown during his lecture indicated their enthusiasm to receive his message.<\/p>\n

Citsukh\u0101nanda: We went to the TV studio and waited there in the audience until after midnight. The program goes until 1:30, so it was a good time. 12:30 is the peak of the show. The TV interviewer asked Prabhup\u0101da many things. When I translated all of what \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da was explaining, the whole audience became stunned. Prabhup\u0101da told them that the world could be happy if they would just love God and chant His names, Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. It seemed so simple. Actually everyone was stunned. Even the emcee was just completely stunned by \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da\u2019s answers, by his great sense of intelligence, understanding, and devotion. The emcee\u2019s questions were trivial, about why the devotees shaved their heads and wore tilaka, why they dressed as they do, but Prabhup\u0101da\u2019s answers were brilliant.<\/p>\n

The devotees chanted with \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da during a k\u012brtana, accompanying him with guitars\u2014Mexican style. At the conclusion of the show the interviewer asked, \u201cCan you bless me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da exclaimed, \u201cAll glories to Mexico City!\u201d<\/p>\n

The program ended. Citsukh\u0101nanda turned to the television announcer. \u201cThank you very much for giving us this opportunity.\u201d The man made no reply. He was captivated by \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da. He was overwhelmed. \u015ar\u012bla Prabhup\u0101da left the studio with the devotees, returning to the temple to take rest.<\/p>\n

Dharmatma das ACBSP: We met this far out guy downtown who convinced us to come to a big Entreprenurial Convention going on in Santa Fe, a modern suburb of Mexico City. It took place in a huge venue and tens of thousand young students and business start ups attended. We were received like Rock Stars and within moments had huge crowds going crazy in ecstatic Kirtan masterfully led by Sundar Nitai prabhu. Fantastic preaching field. Many books, thousands of mantra cards and over 1000 small cups of Halavah were distributed until we were politely escorted out amidst cheers from the appreciating crowds.
