You may have heard that the Russian government is trying to stop book distribution. It passed a law that does not allow anyone from any religion to promote his beliefs, and if anyone gets caught, he invites a big fine. When the devotees in Russia heard this, it caused them transcendental anxiety. Devotees are known to be quite fearless, however, so they continued distributing anyway. One devotee was caught and went to court. Fortunately, he had a good lawyer. So the judge did not rule that the devotee had done something wrong. Rather, he threw out the case. That was the protection of Lord Caitanya, and it set a precedent.<\/p>\n
Now the devotees in Russia are doing huge in book distribution. Saint Petersburg had a 340% increase, with 19,676 book points. The No. 1 medium temple was Novosibirsk, with 7,547 book points. And eight of the top ten small temples are in Russia.<\/p>\n
But look out Russia! The USA is way ahead of you for the year. There’s a nice, warm transcendental competition between Russia and the USA every year, and what’s amazing is that every year the USA is way ahead of Russia, but in December Russia pulls ahead and wins. In December, in Russia, it’s freezing! How do they do it? This has gone on for the last eight years. But if Russia wins this year I’m really going to be shocked, because the USA is 244,000 book points ahead, and it’s the end of November.<\/p>\n

A young lady pointed to the Bhagavad-gita on the table and said, “I have that one.” Seeing the Science of Self-Realization next to it, she added, “I have that one, too. How much do they cost?”<\/p>\n
I responded, “They cost five dollars each.” She gave me a ten and said she wanted both.<\/p>\n
“For a friend?” I asked, and she said, “Yes.”<\/p>\n
I handed her an invitation to the local Gita classes, telling her that we have a free vegetarian meal after the class. It is wonderful that people so much appreciate the books that they want to buy them for friends.<\/p>\n

It passed a law that does not allow anyone from any religion to promote his beliefs, and if anyone gets caught, he invites a big fine. When the devotees in Russia heard this, it caused them transcendental anxiety. Devotees are known to be quite fearless, however, so they continued distributing anyway. One devotee was caught and went to court. Fortunately, he had a good lawyer. So the judge did not rule that the devotee had done something wrong. Rather, he threw out the case.
