A man is on trial in Russia \u2014 for talking about yoga!
\nWashingtonpost: What they\u2019re really doing however, is making it practically illegal to speak publicly about anything pertaining to spirituality or religion unless you\u2019ve registered with authorities as a representative of an approved missionary group.
\nSince the laws have passed, officials have invoked the law to bizarrely crack down on seemingly benign situations. In August, for example, a Hare Krishna devotee nearly went to jail when he was arrested after talking to two people on a street corner about his faith, the Moscow Times reports.<\/p>\n

The newspaper added that last month, police ordered employees of the Salvation Army to burn dozens of Bibles because they weren\u2019t labeled properly.<\/p>\n

Ugai\u2019s situation, however, might be the most random because he wasn\u2019t proselytizing about a religion, but an activity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am concerned about the complete arbitrariness of this law, which can lead to the persecution of my many fellow citizens who practice yoga and study Indian philosophy,\u201d Ugai wrote in his blog. \u201cThere are signs that there\u2019s a campaign unfolding against an entire culture \u2026 The level of delusion is clearly off the charts.\u201d
