{"id":4264,"date":"2007-09-08T08:06:47","date_gmt":"2007-09-08T07:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=4264"},"modified":"2007-09-08T08:06:47","modified_gmt":"2007-09-08T07:06:47","slug":"sri-krishna-janmashtami-celebrated-in-phoenix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=4264","title":{"rendered":"Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrated in Phoenix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src='http:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mozscreenshot.thumbnail.jpg' alt='' \/><br \/>\n<em><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"1\" >from left : Dr. Prayag Narayan das Misra, Elizabeth Gamma, aka Lillie G, HH Hridayanada Das Goswami, GBC, Asim Ameer, his daughter and spouse, Vishnupriya dd and Chakri das.<\/font><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>By Iskcon of Phoenix<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ISKCON of Phoenix celebrated on Tuesday, September 4.<br \/>\nHis Holiness Hridayanand Goswami, G B C explained the significance of Krishna&#8217;s advent.<\/p>\n<p>The  Cultural Program included Kidz Art &#038; Fancy Dress Competition, Drama on Appearance of Lord Krishna, devotional songs and bhajans and kirtan- along with Abhishekam- bathing of Krishna- and Midnight Maha Arti  and Maha Prasad.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of this year&#8217;s celebrations: The Temple was profusely decorated both inside and outside and the event was very well attended although it was a working day.Congregation devotees had to park cars far away and walk upto two blocks.<\/p>\n<p> Several VIPs  enjoyed the festival  as an interesting learning of Hare Krishna: Honorable Barry Wong-  former Arizona Corporation Commissioner and Legislator ; From City of Chandler: Trinity Donovan- CouncilMember, Chief Sherry Kiyler, Chandler  Police Department; Pat McDermott- Assistant City Manager, Leah Powell- Diversity Administrator.  All took Maha Prasadam, chanted Hare Krishna and wore blessed garlands from Sri Sri Radha Madhava Hari, Sri Nath Ji Gopal and Sri Sri Gaur Nitai.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ahmad M Khan, who attended the inaugural of the Hare Krishna Temple in 1996, joined in for Maha Arti along with  Shrimati Raj Rani &#038; Sri Dina Nath of Royal Taj- sponsors of this year&#8217;s Souvenir , and others. Muslim community from Pakistan, and Asian American Association of Arizona were gracefully represented by Asim Ameer and family ( Title photo).<\/p>\n<p>Further, the &#8221; Hindu Celebration&#8221; appeared as a news item in Arizona Republic- the leading newspaper of Arizona mentioning Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano&#8217;s  Proclamation for Sri Krishna Janmashtami.
