Bhaktivedanta Swami in 1958,<br \/>\nPublished December of that Year in Gau\u1e0d\u012bya Patrika,<br \/>\nThe Magazine of the Gau\u1e0d\u012bya Ved\u0101nta Samiti.<br \/>\nVerse 1.<br \/>\nI am sitting alone in V\u1e5bnd\u0101vana-dh\u0101ma<br \/>\nIn this mood I am getting many realizations.<br \/>\nI have my wife, sons, daughters, grandsons, everything,<br \/>\nBut I have no money so they are a fruitless glory.<br \/>\nK\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a has shown me the naked form of material nature,<br \/>\nBy his strength it has all become tasteless to me today.<br \/>\nyasy\u0101ham anug\u1e5bh\u1e47\u0101mi hari\u1e63ye tad-dhana\u1e41 \u015banai\u1e25<br \/>\n\u201cI gradually take away all the wealth of those upon whom I am merciful.\u201d<br \/>\nHow was I able to understand this mercy of the All-merciful?<br \/>\nVerse 2.<br \/>\nEveryone has abandoned me, seeing me as penniless,<br \/>\nWife, relatives, friends, brothers, everyone.<br \/>\nThis is misery, but it gives me a laugh. I sit alone and laugh.<br \/>\nIn this m\u0101y\u0101-sa\u1e41s\u0101ra, whom do I really love?<br \/>\nWhere have all my loving father and mother gone to now?<br \/>\nAnd where are all my elders, who were my own folk?<br \/>\nWho will give me news of them, tell me who?<br \/>\nAll that is left of this family life is a list of names.<br \/>\nVerse 3.<br \/>\nLike the froth on the sea water mixes again in the sea,<br \/>\nM\u0101y\u0101\u2019s sa\u1e41s\u0101ra\u2019s play is just like that.<br \/>\nNo one is mother or father, or personal relative,<br \/>\nJust like the sea-foam they remain but a short time,<br \/>\nJust as the froth on sea water mixes again in the sea,<br \/>\nThe body made of five elements meets with destruction.<br \/>\nHow many bodies does the embodied soul take in this way;<br \/>\nHis relatives are all simply related to this temporal body.<br \/>\nVerse 4.<br \/>\nBut everyone is your relative, brother? on the spiritual platform.<br \/>\nThis relationship is not tinged with the smell of m\u0101y\u0101.<br \/>\nThe Supreme Lord is the soul of everyone,<br \/>\nIn relation to Him, everyone in the universe is the same.<br \/>\nAll your relatives, brother! All the billions of j\u012bvas.<br \/>\nWhen seen in relation to K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a they are all in harmony.<br \/>\nForgetting K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, the j\u012bva desires for sense gratification,<br \/>\nAnd as a result he is firmly grasped by m\u0101y\u0101.<br \/>\nVerse 5.<br \/>\nAs a result of past activities he takes on different types of body.<br \/>\nAbsorbed in that dress he remains forgetful of \u015ar\u012b Hari.<br \/>\nTherefore m\u0101y\u0101 gives him so many kinds of miseries<br \/>\nAnd although he bobs up and down in this ocean of misery,<br \/>\nhe still thinks that he is happy.<br \/>\nLying on a bed, suffering greatly, having been sick a long time<br \/>\n\u201cI am very well today,\u201d he says laughing.<br \/>\nI get a laugh out of his \u201cfeeling very well\u201d<br \/>\nThis is the way the soul conditioned by m\u0101y\u0101 feels \u201cwell\u201d<br \/>\nVerse 6.<br \/>\nHow many plans they have to remain \u201cwell\u201d<br \/>\nBut time and time again nature destroys them.<br \/>\ndaiv\u012b hy e\u1e63\u0101 gu\u1e47amay\u012b that is the Supreme Lord\u2019s m\u0101y\u0101.<br \/>\nTry to understand exactly the meaning of their \u201cfeeling well\u201d;<br \/>\nNo one is well in the whole world, but still they are saying<br \/>\nIn this way m\u0101y\u0101 cheats the conditioned soul.<br \/>\nBut, ignoring that he is being cheated, he remains absorbed in m\u0101y\u0101;<br \/>\nAnd although m\u0101y\u0101 kicks him, he will not give up his mistaken conception.<br \/>\nVerse 7.<br \/>\nAgain and again making plans, and again and again they are destroyed.<br \/>\nSometimes he falls on the dry earth and sometimes in the mud.<br \/>\nIn this way the universe is filled with wandering j\u012bva souls<br \/>\nwho finally by the grace of Guru and K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a get bhakti-the eternal wealth.<br \/>\nGaining that wealth if they can give up all other so-called wealth,<br \/>\nThen very easily he crosses over the ocean of sa\u1e41s\u0101ra.<br \/>\nThere on the other side is unparalled spiritual variegatedness.<br \/>\nThere he enjoys in eternal happiness and peace.<br \/>\nVerse 8.<br \/>\nThe mad say, \u201cThere everything is formless,<br \/>\nWithout special feature like a kind of nothing.\u201d<br \/>\nHe is actually the storehouse of spiritual tastes\u2014raso vai sa\u1e25<br \/>\nThe intelligent knowers of tastes serves him becoming his subordinate<br \/>\n\u015a\u0101nta, d\u0101sya, sakhya, v\u0101tsalya are those tastes and<br \/>\nThe best of all, m\u0101dhurya, is the essence of them all.<br \/>\nBut in the spiritual world all these tastes are relishable,<br \/>\nWhereas the material tastes are just shadow reflections and are all contemptible.<br \/>\nVerse 9.<br \/>\nOne who worships K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a is clever<br \/>\nBut one who worships m\u0101y\u0101 is a pauper.<br \/>\nBecoming a pauper one engages in temporary pastimes<br \/>\nWithout knowledge of the true relationships of things he<br \/>\nsimply becomes bound up in m\u0101y\u0101\u2019s knot.<br \/>\nArjuna and Duryodhana both fought in the same war,<br \/>\nBut Arjuna was the best devotee and Duryodhana died.<br \/>\non one battlefield both dear and detestable<br \/>\nOne who is intelligent will be able to understand.<br \/>\nVerse 10.<br \/>\nOne who fights the war of life knowing his true relationship,<br \/>\nHe will remain alive while all others will perish.<br \/>\nOne who does not know his relationship, and takes up some other path,<br \/>\nHe will never attain love of god, and his whole life is useless.<br \/>\nFirst understand properly your relationship with K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a<br \/>\nAnd then keeping that relationship, go and fight with m\u0101y\u0101.<br \/>\nOther than this all the heroes of j\u00f1\u0101na and karma<br \/>\nNever attained liberation, they were all uncertain.<br \/>\nVerse 11.<br \/>\nIn name only they were great sober and unaffected men,<br \/>\nThey were all unpeaceful.<br \/>\nDesiring liberation, sense gratification or mystic powers, all had uncontrolled senses.<br \/>\nThe uncontrolled senses don\u2019t answer to the potency of yoga.<br \/>\nHow many yogis and munis there were, and always the senses remained independent.<br \/>\nWithout service of the master of the senses there can be no sense control.<br \/>\nThey all return to material activities after a short term of peace.<br \/>\nBy the process of yoga, no one ever attains sense control.<br \/>\nThis is explained extensively in the Vedas and Pur\u0101\u1e47as.<br \/>\nVerse 12.<br \/>\nVi\u015bv\u0101mitra sat on the yogic \u0101sana<br \/>\nBut he desired the pure beauty \u015aakuntal\u0101.<br \/>\nIn this way the yogis fall down, what to speak of the j\u00f1\u0101n\u012bs<br \/>\nAnd the karm\u012bs are all just asses, suffering in all respects.<br \/>\nThe one to whom K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a is merciful and gives His instruction,<br \/>\nBecomes equally as fortunate as Arjuna.<br \/>\nBut one who fights for his own happiness\u2019 sake<br \/>\nHe, like Duryodhana, dies along with his family.<br \/>\nVerse 13.<br \/>\nOne who always fights on behalf of K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a,<br \/>\nWealth, power, knowledge are all within his grasp.<br \/>\nUnderstand properly the G\u012bt\u0101\u2019s message<br \/>\nYou will attain K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a\u2019s service and will worship \u015ar\u012b Hari,<br \/>\nThe devotees are endowed with all qualities,<br \/>\nSo what are \u201cnon-violence\u201d or \u201cfreedom from anger\u201d to them?<br \/>\nVerse 14.<br \/>\n\u015ar\u012b Hari teaches the living entities by means of his devotees,<br \/>\none such helper is P\u0101rtha.<br \/>\nArjuna acted just like a conditioned soul<br \/>\nLike one bewildered was the P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0dava brother<br \/>\nViolence to his relatives and then enjoyment of the Kingdom<br \/>\nCould this be happiness? Arjuna showed lamentation.<br \/>\nThis though, was all deh\u0101tma-buddhi\u1e25 identification with the body<br \/>\none who is a k\u1e63atriya gives up such family affection on the battlefield.<br \/>\nVerse 15.<br \/>\nK\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, seeing his illusion, chastised him<br \/>\nTherefore Arjuna accepted the position of disciple<br \/>\nBecoming a disciple he listened to the Bhagavad-g\u012bt\u0101.<br \/>\nAll his ignorance dissipated as well as his material bondage.<br \/>\nHis material bondage was cut, but he was not dressed as a sanny\u0101s\u012b.<br \/>\nThe householders understand the G\u012bt\u0101\u2019s meaning this way.<br \/>\nThe perfection of mantras, kari\u1e63ye vacana\u1e41 tava<br \/>\nTherefore the war that he fought brought him an increase in fame.<br \/>\nVerse 16.<br \/>\nThe Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas have no desire, they all chant japa on their beads.<br \/>\nSo what kind of Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava is this Arjuna in the middle of sa\u1e41s\u0101ra?<br \/>\nThe Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava freed from duality simply chants japa on his beads,<br \/>\nSo say those who are eating the mind\u2019s bananas.<br \/>\nThe Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava is without desire, and amicable by nature<br \/>\nBut he is not a forceless weakling as people foolishly think.<br \/>\nIn two great Indian wars, two great personalities;<br \/>\nLeaders amongst the Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas and were victorious.<br \/>\nVerse 17.<br \/>\nBecause of desire for the satisfaction of his own senses he would not fight.<br \/>\nBut he is one who is known by everyone as a Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava.<br \/>\nThose who do not see the real Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas say that a Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava is inactive.<br \/>\nBut the Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava is always active in the service of the Lord.<br \/>\nThe lifeless kani\u1e63\u1e6dha-adhik\u0101r\u012bs don\u2019t perform any service.<br \/>\nFor profit adoration and prestige they stay in their lonely place,<br \/>\nNity\u0101nanda prabhu, who is worshipable by the Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas<br \/>\nSuffered blows, but still distributed love of God one after the other.<br \/>\nVerse 18.<br \/>\nGaura Hari came with the cakra in His hand and gave punishment,<br \/>\nAfter that the Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava haters were subdued.<br \/>\nThe Lord sets example Himself to teach the j\u012bvas<br \/>\nSo one who performs nirjana bhajana simply cheats himself.<br \/>\nThe world has now become full of Jag\u0101is and M\u0101dh\u0101is<br \/>\nThe Nity\u0101nanda Va\u1e41\u015ba has increased its following of disciples.<br \/>\nBut eating, sleeping, wearing the dress, but remaining unconcerned<br \/>\nIt is not proper for the Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas to remain so uncompassionate.<br \/>\nVerse 19.<br \/>\n\u015ar\u012bla Cakravart\u012b \u1e6ch\u0101kura says in his M\u0101dhurya Ka\u1e0dambin\u012b<br \/>\nJust see his conclusion and what is his judgement.<br \/>\nDevotional service is causeless and self-manifesting<br \/>\nBut the Eternally Perfect Substance is always covered over.<br \/>\nThe madhyama-adhik\u0101r\u012b therefore being compassionate<br \/>\nGives mercy to the innocent souls by awakening devotion in them.<br \/>\nThe Supreme Lord acts according to the will of the Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas,<br \/>\nTherefore by the mercy of the Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas the bewildered can be awakened.<br \/>\nVerse 20.<br \/>\nThe Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas can awaken the sleeping world<br \/>\nBy their mercy the sinful can all become devotees.<br \/>\nTherefore they do not perform nirjana bhajana,<br \/>\nThat is the world cheating process of the kani\u1e63\u1e6dha-adhik\u0101r\u012b<br \/>\nAll the big big famous vaishnavas were in assembly<br \/>\nAnd Padri Saheb came in to meet them<br \/>\nHe asked some questions about K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a\u2019s l\u012bl\u0101 in V\u1e5bnd\u0101vana<br \/>\nBut that association of venerable Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas was not able to enlighten him as to the real truth.<br \/>\nVerse 21.<br \/>\nThe kani\u1e63\u1e6dha-adhik\u0101r\u012bs do not understand these scriptures<br \/>\nIn the false pride of being alone they simply hunt for chapatis and dal.<br \/>\nOur spiritual master said these are all kani\u1e63\u1e6dha<br \/>\nNow I can understand the truth of what he said.<br \/>\nOne well versed in the scripture and who has strong faith<br \/>\nIs an uttama-adhik\u0101r\u012b and can deliver the whole world.<br \/>\nHe is the deliverer of the most fallen and is famous through the world.<br \/>\nNow, save this fallen one and thus become really famed.<br \/>\nVerse 22.<br \/>\nIn the Kali-yuga the j\u012bvas are all fallen and the lowest of mankind.<br \/>\nSeeing they do not see the different activities<br \/>\nThe Supreme Lord Gaurasundara is the most magnanimous<br \/>\nAnd His instructions are all full of nectar.<br \/>\nOne who has taken his birth in the land of Bharata<br \/>\nShould engage in welfare activities according to His instructions.<br \/>\nThe Supreme Lord\u2019s l\u012bl\u0101 was to relish mellows in the nirajana<br \/>\nBut it is not the play of Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas to imitate these activities.<br \/>\nVerse 23.<br \/>\nThis transcendental service cannot actually be tasted by those who are not Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas.<br \/>\nIn the material body one cannot relish this transcendental nectar.<br \/>\nOne who has the material concept that the body is his self<br \/>\nCannot relish spiritual mellows.<br \/>\nBut those who have conceptions of the Vai\u1e63\u1e47avas in terms of birth etc.<br \/>\nAre very bold when it comes to relishing the l\u012bl\u0101s of the Lord.<br \/>\nLike the clerk in the post office, one caste goswami.<br \/>\nThe b\u0101b\u0101j\u012bs all pay their obeisances to him a lot.<br \/>\nVerse 24.<br \/>\nThe Gos\u0101i \u1e6ch\u0101kura has false pride in his birth<br \/>\nWhich Nity\u0101nanda Prabhu cut into pieces.<br \/>\nI see all these things going on in V\u1e5bnd\u0101vana<br \/>\nTherefore I can understand that there is some work to be done here<br \/>\nThe pr\u0101k\u1e5bta-sahajiy\u0101s all commit adultery<br \/>\nTaking someone else\u2019s wife they go to relish transcendental l\u012bl\u0101.<br \/>\nThis is not V\u1e5bnd\u0101vana as always think like this my dear mind<br \/>\nRemember the Lotus feet of the six gosv\u0101m\u012bs.<br \/>\nVerse 25.<br \/>\nThe six gosv\u0101m\u012bs came and preached religious life<br \/>\nThey saved the process of devotional service on the order of Lord Caitanya.<br \/>\nThey are all eternally perfect associates of the Lord and always remember R\u0101dh\u0101 and K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a<br \/>\nRemembering them all the conditioned souls sins are cleared away<br \/>\nBut if he tries to imitate them taking on their dress and characteristics<br \/>\nHe becomes the plaything of m\u0101y\u0101 and does not cross over the material ocean<br \/>\nAlways preach! From j\u012bva\u2019s door to door<br \/>\nYour life will be successful as a result of your preaching.<br \/>\nVerse 26.<br \/>\n\u015ar\u012b Dayit\u0101 d\u0101sa prabhu gave this instruction<br \/>\n\u201cChant Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a loudly, this is my initiation:<br \/>\nK\u012brtana is not just drums and karat\u0101las<br \/>\nThe sound of k\u012brtana is not this modern system<br \/>\nAnything favourable for devotional service is all M\u0101dhava<br \/>\nAnd the only enjoyer of the three worlds is Yadava<br \/>\nM\u0101y\u0101\u2019s pride and joy, the radio sound<br \/>\nDestroy them all by forceful k\u012brtana.<br \/>\nVerse 27.<br \/>\nM\u0101y\u0101\u2019s is all these newspapers<br \/>\nPreach that throughout the whole world.<br \/>\nSitting alone in your room shouting, you may increase your bile\u2019s secretion<br \/>\nBut in ten million births \u015ar\u012b Hari won\u2019t be pleased.<br \/>\n\u015ar\u012b Hari is no one\u2019s father\u2019s property<br \/>\nCome out of your cage, stop making objection<br \/>\nEverything belongs to \u015ar\u012b Hari and \u015ar\u012b Hari belongs to everyone.<br \/>\nChant the Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a mantra loudly<br \/>\nBy the performance of such sa\u1e45k\u012brtana there will come remembrance automatically<br \/>\nThen there will be nirjana bhajana manifested in the heart spontaneously.<br \/>\nJaya Srila Prabhupada&#8230;!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dandavats.com\/wp-content\/uploads5\/2017-04-01_12-00-47.jpg\" alt=\"Hare Krishna\"\/><strong>By His Divine Grace A.C.B.
