Character versus reputation (5 min video)
\nMahatma Das: Your character is who you really are. Your reputation is who people think you are.
\nYou may go somewhere with your reputation, but only character will keep you there.<\/p>\n

We have this problem that we want people to see us in a certain way and in our humility workshop we do an exercise and we make a question \u201cwhat do you want people to believe about you\u201d so when you show up, when you go somewhere, what are you thinking that you would like people to think about you.<\/p>\n

Oh here is a great devotee, there\u2019s a humble devotee, is a serious devotee, here\u2019s a pure devotee, here\u2019s a devotee who\u2019s good at this or that – what do we want people to think about us.<\/p>\n

Well people think about this, it\u2019s what we call reputation, which really has nothing to do with who we are, and especially if you\u2019re a good pretender then you could take everybody up and you could get everyone to think you\u2019re much different than you really are.<\/p>\n

The character is what are concerned with in Krishna consciousness. In a sense we are concerned about what people think of us because we want to set a good example but we\u2019re not concerned in the false ego way\u2026
