Sometimes it is not easy for devotees to know where to turn to in order to get good medical care and treatment. Many traveling preachers might not have a regular health insurance, and the financial considerations also play a major factor in making decissions. I have been receiving treatments in the Apollo Hospital in Bangalore over the past two months, and I am highly impressed with the wonderful service they offer. I would like to share some impressions, hoping that it could be of some little help to our world-wide devotee community.<\/p>\n
HG Uttam Damodara Prabhu is a second initiated devotee and serves as one of the top managers supervising several Apollo Hospitals in Bangalore, sitting in his office wearing tilak and neckbeads. He knows all the doctors of the Apollo Hospitals in Bangalore personally, and his good relationships give him a strong influence. He once smilingly said to me: “I can get an appointment for anybody anywhere at any time!” When I heard these words, I realized: “This man has influence….!” And he surely proved it: without any difficulties he arranged appointments for me immediately – on the spot, for all important preparations necessary to start my treatment. Everything is so well organised – I am impressed with the high standard of professionalism, the high standard of medical care and the polite and cultured staff. And everybody has such a nice service mood! I had to be admitted for 36 hours on Ward 6 and received a single room for a reasonable price. Everything is kept very clean, and all kinds of arrangements are made to make the patient feel comfortable: a tooth brush and tooth paste, some moisturizing creme, a comb, soap, shampoo – I felt like I had come to a fancy hotel. The dietician had contacted me and had taken carefully note of all my diet requirements. And I was impressed to see that they followed everything minutely and served me a very nice and tasty meal – not bland and boring, as hospital food often can be. One lady from the Guest Relations Department came to ask me for my overall feedback on the service I was receiving, and we had a nice chat about Krsna consciousness. Then the head of the nursing department came and was training the young nurses in my presence. I was impressed with the amazing efforts they are making in order to ongoingly improve their standards of service. The billing is done so minutely and instantly, with every syringe and tablet accounted for. Very impressive.<\/p>\n

Bangalore has several ISKCON temples with big congregations. There are many nice families, who have a wonderful service mood and are eager to receive a devotee as their guest to support his\/her time during recuperation by giving all required care. Compared to the prices one pays in the West for specialized health check-ups, investigations, medical treatments, medicines and surgeries, Apollo Hospital offers good service for a fraction of the price.
