So gop\u012bs are also expansion of K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a’s pleasure potency. Gop\u012bs are not these ordinary women; neither K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a is ordinary man. So unless we understand K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a as were discussing this morning, the verse, ka\u015bcin m\u0101\u1e41 vetti tattvata\u1e25… Out of many millions of siddhas, one can understand K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a as He is. If we do not understand K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, then how we can understand gop\u012bs?\n<\/p>\n

So this is not the subject matter of the mental speculators. Better not to read all these books. Because they are not realized souls, neither they are devotees of K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. Neither do they know what is K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. So what they will understand about K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a? So if we want to understand K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, er, gop\u012bs, then we have to learn it from the perfect devotee of K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, not from the speculators, mental speculators. This is simply a waste of time.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We have got many volumes of books, but we are giving information to the people of the world that “You can get out of this entanglement of birth, death, old age and disease and be transferred to the spiritual world, where you can live eternally with blissful life and full of knowledge.”<\/div>\n

Prabhup\u0101da: Yes, astrology. Astrology. There is planetary system. It is the Vedic system. You can see at night. The whole planetary system is moving like this, bunch of tree. And in Bhagavad-g\u012bt\u0101 it is said, \u016brdhva-m\u016blam adhah-\u015b\u0101kham [Bg. 15.1]. This, it is just like a big tree, and the root is upwards and the branches and fruits downwards. Prabhup\u0101da: Yes, don’t you see higher planetary system? The sun planet, the moon planet. They are not higher on your top? There are many others, many others, millions. These are prominent. According to the Vedic system, the moon planet is higher than the sun planet. So these descriptions are there in the Fifth Canto. I shall request you to read them to understand.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lecture on BG 15.1 — Bombay, October 28, 1973<\/a>:<\/b> So this is the description of Vedic literature. Vedai\u015b ca sarvair aham eva vedya\u1e25 [Bg. 15.15]. That will be described. Veda means knowledge. Vetti veda vida j\u00f1\u0101ne. Vid-dh\u0101tu. From vid-dh\u0101tu, the word Veda has come, which means knowledge. There are different kinds of knowledge, and all kinds of knowledge you can get perfectly from the Vedas. There is Dhanur-veda, \u0100yur-veda, \u1e5ag-veda, S\u0101ma-veda, different branches of Veda, but the objective of studying Vedas means to understand K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. Vedai\u015b ca sarvai\u1e25. All kinds of Vedas. Any book of knowledge. There are different types of book of knowledge. So if by studying the books of different types of knowledge one comes to the understanding of knowing the Supreme Personality of Godhead K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, then his knowledge is perfect.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

So those who want to understand God scientifically, philosophically, let them read these books. That is our presentation, K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness. Lecture on BG 16.6 — Hawaii, February 2, 1975<\/a>:<\/b> That is K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness movement. It is not a bluff sentiment. It is a great science. Those who are actually studious, they can understand the science perfectly if they study all our books. We have got twenty volumes books like this already published. And we propose to publish seventy-two volumes, how to understand God. So God is not so cheap thing, that “I have become God; you have become God.” It is a great science. S\u0101dhu-sa\u1e45ga means to associate with the devotees of K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. \u0100dau \u015braddh\u0101 tata\u1e25 s\u0101dhu-sa\u1e45go ‘tha bhajana-kriy\u0101. S\u0101dhu-sa\u1e45ga. Sud\u0101m\u0101: Close to. They’re doing many…, close to a hundred K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a books a day sometimes.\n<\/p>\n

Prabhup\u0101da: Yes. So it is very good news that people are reading our books. They have already got about more than one dozen such books, four hundred pages each. And besides the smaller books, now we are immediately going to add six more books. And what are those? Three Bh\u0101gavatams?\n<\/p>\n

Bali-mardana: Three Bh\u0101gavatam, Caitanya-carit\u0101m\u1e5bta.\n<\/p>\n

Prabhup\u0101da: One, all four hundred pages, like this. We don’t publish a book less than this volume. So just imagine how much we have to learn about our spiritual life. In no other system\u2014religious system you may call, or cultural system\u2014can give you so many books to read. There is no comparison. The Christians, they can present only one small Bible, and the Muslims they can present one little Koran. But here, the Vedic culture is so great that we can simply give you sixty volumes like this only for \u015ar\u012bmad-Bh\u0101gavatam. And Bh\u0101gavata is the eighteenth Pur\u0101\u1e47a. So there are seventeen Pur\u0101\u1e47as, still more, not yet touched. Beside that, there are 108 Upani\u1e63ads. Then there is big Mah\u0101bh\u0101rata, the great history of India. Then R\u0101m\u0101ya\u1e47a. There are so many books. So we are trying to present all these books into English translation.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Now we have got so many books. So whenever you find time… You must find time. There is so much time. So read all these books or chant.<\/div>\n
Lecture on SB 2.3.14-15 — Los Angeles, May 31, 1972<\/a>:<\/b> If you think of K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a twenty-four hours, then you’ll become fully K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a conscious, and your life is successful. Don’t allow anything. This requires little practice, abhy\u0101sa-yoga-yuktena cetas\u0101 n\u0101nya-g\u0101min\u0101 [Bg. 8.8]. I should not allow my mind to go, to think of any other subject than K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. Now we have got so many books. So whenever you find time… You must find time. There is so much time. So read all these books or chant. But when you are hungry, you take pras\u0101dam. When you are sleepy, take a snap. Not very much, just to refresh. And go on, either chanting the beads or reading the books or talking about K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. In this way, always remain in K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness. Smartavya\u1e25 satata\u1e41 vi\u1e63\u1e47u\u1e25. K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness means to remember Vi\u1e63\u1e47u always, twenty-four hours.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

But still there must be somebody out of millions to understand this philosophy. And there is good opportunity now. We have published so many books on this subject matter, and we have got very nice place in Bombay, Juhu. Please come, read our books, try to understand the philosophy and make your life successful.<\/div>\n
Lecture on SB 2.3.20 — Bombay, March 24, 1977, At Cross Maidan Pandal<\/a>:<\/b> There are 8,400,000 different forms of body. If you become an insignificant worm, then it will take millions of years by the evolution process to come again to this human form of body and come to…, there may be chance to take to K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness. K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness is not very easy. If I miss this opportunity, I may miss millions of years. So this knowledge should be given. It is not expected that everyone will accept or understand. But this knowledge must be current. A class of men, the br\u0101hma\u1e47a class, the Vai\u1e63\u1e47ava class… Manu\u1e63y\u0101\u1e47\u0101\u1e41 sahasre\u1e63u [Bg. 7.3]\u2014that is a fact. But still there must be somebody out of millions to understand this philosophy. And there is good opportunity now. Lecture on SB 2.3.25 — Los Angeles, June 23, 1972<\/a>:<\/b> So like \u015aukadeva Gosv\u0101m\u012b, you should hear patiently, submissively, with service and question. So in that way Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Par\u012bk\u1e63it attained salvation in seven days. If it is, \u015ar\u012bmad-Bh\u0101gavatam, actually heard in that seriousness… Where is that seriousness? That seriousness was there in Par\u012bk\u1e63it Mah\u0101r\u0101ja because he knew it certainly that he was going to die within seven days. So “I have to finish my God realization, self-realization, with seven days.” We are not so serious, because we are thinking that “We shall live for seven millions of years, so let me go slowly. Better utilize the time by sleeping.” That is our position. If you have got some time, “Let me take this opportunity by sleeping, not by reading the books.” So if you do not become serious, then it will take many, many years. But we should be serious more than \u015aukadeva or Par\u012bk\u1e63it Mah\u0101r\u0101ja. Par\u012bk\u1e63it Mah\u0101r\u0101ja had at least time limit seven days, but we do not know whether we will live again seven minutes. Any moment your heart can failure.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We have got books. Otherwise, if you are not so learned to read all these books, chant Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. Two things are there. Take advantage, any one of them, and be liberated.<\/div>\n
Lecture on SB 3.25.20 — Bombay, November 20, 1974<\/a>:<\/b> The simple thing is that you chant Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. But if you think yourself as very learned, thoughtful man, and you want to understand through science and philosophy, all right, come on. We have got books. Learn it. Two ways. We have got three dozen books for you. You cannot finish it even in your whole life. Come on. Otherwise, if you are not so learned to read all these books, chant Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. Lecture on SB 5.5.1 — Johannesburg, October 20, 1975<\/a>:<\/b> So this Vedic instruction, it is not meant for any particular person, any community or any country. It is meant for everyone. So we should take advantage. We are therefore publishing in English so many books so that people may understand. English language is spoken practically all over the world, and we are selling also. So everything is there, and if you like to take advantage of this movement and make your life perfect, go back to home, back to Godhead, then fully utilize this center, our Melbourne center. Come here, read our books, and argue. Try to understand with your full knowledge, no blindly acceptance. There is reason. There is argument. There is philosophy. There is science. Everything is there. And if you accept that “Simply by chanting, I shall realize,” that is also allowed. Both ways: if you accept this simple process, that “Chant Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a and realize God,” that is also fact, and if you think, “What is this nonsense, chanting Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a?” then you read books. Lecture on SB 6.1.8 — Honolulu, May 9, 1976<\/a>:<\/b> But they are so fools and rascals, they do not know how the life is going on, how nature is working upon us. Everything is in darkness. Therefore K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness is the only hope for human society. Only hope. It is not story; it is fact. So those who have come to K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a consciousness, I request that take it very seriously and read the books and make progress and simply try to understand K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. If you sit down and write some article on K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, that means you have to concentrate on K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a’s activities or K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a’s devotees’ activities, and that very process will purify your heart. Therefore we always recommend to our students that you write articles, read our magazine, read our book.<\/div>\n
Lecture on SB 6.2.12-14 — Allahabad, January 17, 1971, at Kumbha-mela<\/a>:<\/b> So instead of taking yourself to these prescribed ritualistic ceremonies, if you simply engage your mind in describing or glorifying the Supreme Personality of Godhead… That is our process. Our only objective is how to glorify the Supreme Personality of Godhead. We are writing books, we are publishing magazines, we are preaching, we are going everywhere\u2014just to glorify the Supreme Personality of Godhead, K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. That is our only business. This process is recommended here, citta-\u015bodhaka. If you sit down and write some article on K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a, that means you have to concentrate on K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a’s activities or K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a’s devotees’ activities, and that very process will purify your heart. Therefore we always recommend to our students that you write articles, read our magazine, read our book. In this way if we keep ourself… Work for K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Either we should chant Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a mantra or we should read our books. This is wanted. Then we’ll be safe from m\u0101y\u0101.<\/div>\n

And if you think that you have no time, you are not so good scholar, you cannot read all these books, chant Hare K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a. Either way you will become perfect, either both or at least one. But if you read, then you will be able to defend yourself from the opposing parties. That will help you preaching work. Because in the preaching work you have to answer so many question, you have to meet so many opposing elements, so if you are strong in your position by reading books, Vedic literature, then you become very, very favorite to K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
