Leaving the abode of light
\nI’ve dwelt so long
\nwithin this shadom realm
\nof senseless rebellion<\/p>\n
Obstinately pursuing
\nmy vain independence
\nI’ve put my stake deeply
\ninto the sands of oblivion<\/p>\n
Through countless lives
\nI have wandered
\nthroughout the labyrinths
\nof the cavern of delusions <\/p>\n
Chasing after shadows
\nof vacuous pleasures
\nbeguiled by dancing devils
\nof unrequited desires<\/p>\n
I’ve worn the twisted masks
\nof paupers and kings
\nfervently seeking fame
\nwithin this comedy of fools<\/p>\n
Exhausted I stared down
\ninto Time’s well of sorrows
\nto find only deception
\ncovering my weary heart<\/p>\n
I could not understand
\nwhy only flickering joy and pain
\ncould be the bitter harvest
\nof all my misplaced aspirations<\/p>\n
Surely life and death’s
\ncruel game hid some true meaning
\nhidden to darkened eyes
\nbeyond this stringent finality<\/p>\n
Blinded by my shallowness
\nI failed to understand
\nthat darkness only existed
\nin my own hopeless heart<\/p>\n
That Beauty and Truth
\nwere the wealth of the wise
\nwho had sought the shelter
\nof our benevolent Master<\/p>\n
His inscrutable plan moves us all
\nthrough all the necessary lessons
\nto bring us back into the light
\nof His guiding grace<\/p>\n
Thus a stream of hope pierced through
\nto arouse my recognition
\nof our Lord’s patient mercy
\nawaiting my grateful submission<\/p>\n
Keeping my eyes to the prize
\nI keep heading for the light
\nof His salutary revelation
\nto cure all my chronic ignorance<\/p>\n
I only aspire to at last
\nstrip away all useless envy
\nand stand naked in the blazing sun
\nof His infinite love<\/p>\n
And bathe there forever
\nwith awe-filled heart
\nin the warm splendor
\nof His undying service<\/p>\n
