In beautiful Sridham Mayapur, the day before the auspicious Siva-Ratri celebration, the Institute for Spiritual Culture conducted their annual program expounding upon the virtues of ideal family life, as described by Srila Prabhupada and our previous acaryas. The program was well-attended with over 400 devotees participating. We were privileged to be able to hear from great stalwarts in Vedic understanding, such as His Holiness Bhakti Rasamrita Maharaja, His Holiness Chandramauli Maharaja, His Holiness Bhakti Vidya Purna Maharaja, His Grace Pancharatna Prabhu and His Grace Subheksana Prabhu.<\/p>\n

Subheksana Prabhu shared his personal experience in entering marriage according to spiritual understandings and culture \u2013 he met his wife for the first time merely seven days before the marriage ceremony! Pancharatna Prabhu elaborated on sravanam kirtanam
\nsetting the very foundation to the grihastha ashram. As Srimad Bhagavatam and the holy name become our foremost priority, our family life transforms into an ashram \u2013 a setting dedicated to spiritual advancement. HH Bhakti Rasamrita Maharaja enlightened us on several secrets of success: simple living, regular Vaishnava association and cultivating sheltering relationships in our life in order to receive guidance and advice. HH Chandramauli Maharaja spoke on the importance of giving in charity and receiving guests being the main purifying duties of this ashram. And HH Bhakti Vidya Purna Maharaja concluded the program giving insights into the mood and attitude of husband and wife.<\/p>\n

As in all spiritual functions, the arriving guests were greeted warmly, the seniors being received with fragrant garlands, and everyone was seated comfortably in chairs. After hearing from those great souls, everyone was invited to take wonderful prasadam of many varieties, as without prasadam, no spiritual gathering can be considered complete.<\/p>\n

All these principles are the cornerstone of the teachings of the Institute for Spiritual Culture, which annually holds seminars in Sridham Mayapur throughout the month of January. The director of the Institute, Mother Devaki, teaches 5 courses on very relevant and practical topics, which give valuable education and training how to apply our philosophy in our daily lives.
