Devotees living at New Talavan Farm Community in Southern Mississippi have launched a dynamic new website called The Second Half (Second-Half.org). The name “Second Half\u201d references Srila Prabhupada\u2019s expressed desire for land-based preaching prototypes that make the philosophy and culture of Krishna consciousness approachable and understandable to Western people.<\/p>\n

According to Bhakta Steve Johns, the site designer, \u201cThe Second Half is a candid snapshot of what works, what inspires people and what are the challenges we face in developing current and future ISKCON rural settlements. We think of ourselves as varnashrama pioneers exploring the fusion between farming culture, philosophy and Krishna conscious outreach to our neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The setting\u2014New Talavan Community\u2014is home to four major projects:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Deep South Cow Care, which shelters fifty cows and produces ambrosial milk products<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Blue Boy Herb Co., a legendary herbal dispensary churning out wild crafted herbal remedies<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Good Karma Caf\u00e9, prasadam distribution in Gulfport and New Orleans<\/p>\n

\u00b7 The Small Farm Training Center, which has mentored over 120 student farm apprentices<\/p>\n
