She is slowly recovering from the effects of a subarachnoidal hemorrhage, a ruptured blood vessel in the brain. Her brain remains full of blood from the bleed giving her nausea and a bad headache. Over several weeks these symptoms will subside as her body gradually absorbs the blood. In about two weeks on around 19 October the inside of her brain will be minutely examined to see if the point of rupture can be located. If found, the rupture will then be repaired through brain surgery. Such delicate surgical procedures are not without risk. So we are begging Krishna for His protective mercy in this regard.

On Monday 6 October 2008, when she was being transported 150 kilometers from the hospital in Odense to the national hospital in Copenhagen, even though it was difficult for her to speak, Vishnupriya Mataji kindly shared with us, as captured in the following video clip, her realizations from this experience which brought her dangerously close to death:

Video: http://www.backtohome.com/video/Mataji.wmv

Sankarshan Das Adhikari

—————-
On Friday 3 October 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark my wife, Vishnupriya devi dasi, was leading the mangala arati kirtan. Half way through the kirtan it was alarming that she had to sit down to finish the kirtan. After the kirtan she laid down on the floor and we brought her cushions to comfort her. She was experiencing extreme dizziness and requested to be taken to a doctor immediately. We called for an ambulance which arrived shortly and took her to a nearby hospital. After some time they scanned her brain and discovered that her brain was bleeding. Because there was no space in Copenhagen’s neurosurgery center they rushed her by ambulance with siren blazing 140 kilometers to Odense, Denmark. They put her on medication to try to stop the bleeding. She has never lost consciousness and is taking this in a very detached, fearless, Krishna conscious way typical of her strong spiritual nature. It has been very encouraging that devotees from all over the world have been praying for her recovery. Today 4 October her brain will be minutely analyzed to see exactly what is happening with it. The nurse told me of a surgical procedure which may be required in her case. Through an opening in the mid section of the body they can go all the way to the brain and repair the ruptured blood vessel with platinum thread. We are hoping for the very best that this dedicated preacher and servant of Srila Prabhupada’s mission may pull through this successfully. I want to thank the wonderful ISKCON devotees all over the world for their heartfelt prayers and well-wishes.

Your servant, Sankarshan Das Adhikari

By Sankarshan Das Adhikari

On Friday 3 October 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark my wife, Vishnupriya devi dasi, was leading the mangala arati kirtan.
