\nOn his way home from work on Friday, September 21,
\nDvarkadhish das was in a car accident. All we know is that he had severe head injury and trauma to the brain. The doctors had to perform emergency surgery. After the surgery they said his brain function was at 1% and there was no hope for recovery.
\nSo with a heavy heart and the blessings of our Guru Maharaj, HH Bhakti Charu Swami, we decided to take him off of life support.
\nBefore we took him off of life support, Guru Maharaj called and gave him final instructions (we held the phone to his hear).
\nAccording to Guru Maharaj\u2019s instructions we applied Tilak to his head and body, Tulasi leaves on his chest and in his mouth, Ganga Jal and water from other sacred rivers in his mouth and sprinkled on his head, Nrishma Kavaca on his head, dry Tulasi sticks and dust on his chest, Maha garlands from his ishtadev Rukmini Dvarkadhish and Rukmini Dvarkanath around his neck and body, and the dust from Vrindavan on his chest and head.
\nWe chanted the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra, Nrsimha prayers, Nrsimha Kavaca prayers, Govindam prayers and Jaya Radhe Jaya Krsna Jaya Vrindavana bhajan. Surrounding him were our direct family members, Nirantara Prabhu, Jagadambika Mataji and Dvarkadhish\u2019s elder brother and wife.
\nWhen they removed the ventilator, Prabhupada\u2019s chanting was still playing in his ears, and we were all chanting japa loudly.
\nWithin a few minutes Dvarkadhish das breathed from his mouth and opened his eyes as if to say \u201cHare Krsna\u201d to us and then with one final breath from his mouth, left his body on the auspicious day of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura\u2019s Appearance day at 3:45pm PST. He passed his final exam in such an auspicious and glorious way. Our Guru Maharaj has always said that the way one leaves his body determines his next destination.
\nWe are positive that he indeed went back to Godhead.
\nAlthough he is in a better place, still we are left with the burden of suffering his separation, as he was indeed the backbone of our family and the light in our lives. We are going to miss him dearly and we will never be the same.
\nWhile we deeply appreciate all of the calls and messages.
\nPlease forgive us for not being able to respond during this difficult time. The cremation ceremony will take place privately this Thursday from 2:00pm – 3:00pm PST USA. so we are requesting everyone to pray and recite Chapter 15 of Bhagavad Gita during that time. But we would very much like to invite everyone this Sunday, September 30th at Sri Sri Rukmini Dvarkadhish ISKCON temple in Los Angeles to honor our father\u2019s memory. The program is as follows:
