The mercy of Srila Prabhupada`s transcendental books!
\nWe were in the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria together with bhakta Vesko and went to visit a factory, producing wooden triple-glazing windows for our housing project, and to organize a theater play, advertising in several schools, big local companies, and manufacturing offices. We stopped in front of one such factory when we saw the high fences of the nearby prison. Vesko said enthusiastically:<\/p>\n
– \u201cOh, a prison! Maybe they will need Srila Prabhupada`s books!\u201d<\/p>\n
I went out of the car and saw I smiling man standing at a bus stop and since I always Srila Prabhupada`s transcendental books in my bag, I have asked my straight, if he likes to read:<\/p>\n
– \u201cYes, but what to read?\u201d was his answer<\/p>\n
– \u201cAbout Krishna!\u201d – we were discussing that we should be straight, when needed and expected to be straight<\/p>\n
He smiled and said: \u201cAaa, Hare Krishna!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, exactly!\u201d was my response and I opened the bag, loaded with books and gave him the \u201cScience of Self-realization\u201d. He was interested, so he called me to go up to the office and asked Vesko to continue.<\/p>\n
Ten minutes later, we came down and Vesko was still talking to the smiling man, holding the Bhagavad Gita and showing it to two young boys, while drinking a tea – a present from the smiling man. The man was very happy that he was owning now the \u201cScience of self-realization\u201d and the biography of Srila Prabhupada, the author. I joined the conversation.<\/p>\n
One of the boys was telling Vesko that he is an atheist.<\/p>\n
– \u201cBut what do you believe?\u201d – continued asking my friend.<\/p>\n
– \u201cWell, I believe that there is a force, a destiny – if you do good, a good will return to you!\u201d<\/p>\n
Vesko gave him the book \u201cKarma\u201d, which explains the natural law of \u201cwhat you sow, this is what you will reap!\u201d. A perfect law, giving us exactly what we deserve, nothing less, nothing more! <\/p>\n
I started asking meanwhile if they work in the factory and started explaining very slowly:<\/p>\n
– \u201cWell, yes are here, but we are forced to\u2026 we live here very close\u2026 in a community house\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
I remembered the prison house and said: \u201cyou are an object of a suspended sentence I guess?\u201d<\/p>\n
– \u201cYes, we are from the prison and work to reduce our sentences\u2026 I am going out this year\u201d said the smiling man, while smiling more brighter.<\/p>\n
Vesko began more enthusiastically to offer the \u201cKarma\u201d book and finally, the smiling man gave a donation so that the boy can read it.<\/p>\n
By a mystical arrangement of the Supreme Lord and His Energies, our new friends managed to reduce their sentences in the prison of the material world.<\/p>\n
We have discussed with them that the visible, material world is a prison for the spiritual soul, which is forced to act, according to the three modes of material nature: ignorance, passion and goodness (or colorful mixture of them) and according to our desire to act in on of these modes, we will receive an appropriate and deserved result: an always painful and poisonous result in ignorance, a sweet result which begins to taste bitter like poison at the end, a result which may be bitter in the beginning, but will end as a sweet nectar at the end. But even the actions in goodness bond our soul to the results and the matter.<\/p>\n
Besides these three modes, there is a spiritual mode and energy, which is completely transcendental and beyond mater. And only spiritual activities can elevate beyond the prison of material world and repeated cycle of birth and death.. spiritual activities, which are the key to the eternal divine Kingdom of God!<\/p>\n
By sharing the transcendental books of the spiritual teacher Srila Prabhupada both we and our new friends performed a spiritual activity! But as HH Kadamba Kanana Swami says: \u201cThis is Srila Prabhupada`s Mercy and are just helping him!\u201d<\/p>\n
By a mystical arrangement, we were in the story for escape from the prison\u2026 of material life.<\/p>\n
