The accident took place in the early morning around
7:15 AM.

Mahaman Prabhu received serious chest and left side injuries in the accident, and was unconcious when admitted to the ICU of the Bombay Hospital. His condition was listed as “critical but stable”. He broke nine bones/ribs on his left side, and was in considerable pain after regaining consciousness.

Now, two weeks later, he’s making considerable progress towards recovery in the hospital, and is out of “mortal danger”.

At present I imagine Mahaman Prabhu’s condition is now upgraded to “serious”, as he’s still in the ICU. However the doctors have removed oxygen support (he was NOT intubated, as far as I know) and he’s able to breath normally, on his own. There is a constant drain of fluids from his lungs, necessitated due to major injuries to the chest, rib cage and lungs due to the impact of the accident.

His wife, Paramahamsa Mataji said that it will be a few more days before he’s shifted out of the ICU. They allow visitors only a few minutes with him in the ICU. She has been speaking with those calling to inquire about Mahaman Prabhu’s health on his cell/mobile: +91-93004-74043. Devotees from around the world have been phoning her, which has given her much solace in the days since the accident.

HH Gopal Krishna Maharaj visited for the day on Tuesday, May 5. Ganga Narayan Prabhu, Temple President of ISKCON Ujjain, who himself is a medical graduate and former full time medical practitioner, visited him twice. Ganga Narayan Prabhu told me over the phone that the treatment in the hospital is good and the hospital is known for it’s competency in cardio-vascular care.

He mentioned the names of the “lead doctors” taking care of Mahaman Prabhu as Dr. Santosh Ahuja and Dr. Narendra Raj. He also mentioned that Mahaman Prabhu suffered multiple fractures on his left side, and that the lungs — specifically the left lung — was partially collapsed and filled with liquid.

ISKCON Baroda VP Nityananda Ram Das reached Indore from here on Sunday May
3, and visited the same day in the hospital (he had already regained consciousness by then) and again on Monday, May 4. ISKCON Baroda contributed an on the spot a cash donation of approximately US $400 (Rs.
20,000/-).

Already almost a lakh of rupees have been spent on his treatment.

Therefore, we’d like to appeal to all devotees and well-wishers of Mahaman Prabhu to contribute towards his ongoing treatment, which may go up to Rs 5 lakhs (Approximately US $10,000).

ISKCON Juhu, Bombay, will coordinate the contributions. HH Gopal Krishna Maharaj has assured of some assistance from both ISKCON Juhu and ISKCON New Delhi.

Thanks to you all in advance for the kind consideration of the present difficulties being faced by this very senior and sincere servant of Prabhupada and ISKCON.

The following are various modes of payment for Mahaman prabhu’s medical services:

Within India:

You may directly deposit cash and/or cheque into the following ICICI bank account.
