Welcome to the Hare Krishna Rural Life website and thank you for visiting.<\/p>\n
Our goals with this website are 1) to begin a discussion on how to practically implement the vision and instructions, in regards to rural development, of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder and acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON); 2) to develop a network with others who are focused on this aspect of Srila Prabhupada’s instructions and 3) to make information and advice available to those developing their own rural projects.
\nDeveloping a Krsna-centered rural community will draw upon a wide variety of disciplines, demand large investments in time and patience along with a dependence on good counsel from sources both in and outside of the movement. Any reasonable attempt at developing a sustainable society must be linked to a spiritual process meant to control the lower pushings. Nothing less will succeed. Therefore, daivi varnasrama-dharma is the planet’s only option for developing a sustainable future. The challenge may be great but as with any spiritual endeavour, thankfully, the effort will be enlightening and pleasing.<\/p>\n
It is our hope that many devotees will contribute to this web page since it is beyond the ability of any one individual. Indeed, our success will be measured by the participation of the devotees that get involved in both the theoretical and practical stages of spiritual rural development. So please lend a hand.<\/p>\n
Presently, this website consists of articles scanned from past newsletters of Hare Krsna Rural Life which I (Vyapaka dasa) and Hare Krsna dasi, along with the kind efforts of many devotees around the world, published some time ago. This website is presently my sole effort so please do not take Hare Krsna dasi to task over its many imperfections. Many of the articles scanned have not been thoroughly proofread and errors may exist due to imperfections inherent with the scanner and OCR text.<\/p>\n
So please give us a good read and write to us by using the email link or submit articles by employing the link on the left of the same name. We’ll do the rest. Please be patient because publication of articles will depend on our timetable which is already quite hectic since we are working an 100 acre farm along with a small craft business and other professional duties.<\/p>\n

If we need inspiration, let us think of Srila Prabhupada’s devotion and determination to serve his spiritual master as he boarded the Jaladutta \u2014 though he was penniless, of an advanced age and uncertain as to his chances of success \u2014 still he forged ahead. His only currency was faith and dedication in the words of his spiritual master and Lord Krsna. If we remain chaste to his instructions, then we can assume that Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krsna will provide all the intelligence and resources we require.<\/p>\n
