\nanniversary of their congregational preaching, or Nama-hatta. The
\ninitiative constitutes a milestone in fulfilling the desires of Sri
\nCaitanya and the previous acaryas<\/em>.<\/tt><\/p>\n
\ndevotees, followers of Srila Prabhupada, began to preach Krishna
\nconsciousness in the villages around Mayapur. Despite the lack of
\nfacilities, the results were surprising: in less than one year
\nthirty Nama-hatta sangas<\/em> were formed.<\/tt><\/p>\n
\nNama-hatta<\/em> Mela<\/em> in Mayapur, one hundred and fifty
\nrepresentatives attended. In the following years the program grew
\nexponentially to more than two thousand active groups; the current
\nestimate is that 39,000 people are participating in Nama-hatta
\ngroups in this area.<\/tt><\/p>\n![\"\"\/](\"http:\/\/namahatta.org\/files\/pictures\/news\/bv-thakura_sepia_310.jpg\")
<\/tt><\/p>\n
\nestablished by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura more than one hundred
\nyears ago. The present event is particularly significant since
\nISKCON's Nama-hatta preaching began in Sri Mayapur, the same holy
\nplace where Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His associates commenced
\nthe Sankirtan<\/em> movement, where Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura
\nestablished the central offices of his Nama-hatta program, and
\nwhere Srila Prabhupada established ISKCON\u2019s world
\nheadquarters.<\/tt><\/p>\n
\nTrayodasi in ISKCON's Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir.
\nRepresentatives of different congregational groups from West
\nBengal, Orissa, Assam, and Bangladesh will gather. This will be the
\nlargest Nama-hatta gathering ever observed in the history of
\ncongregational preaching. This anniversary does not only constitute
\na landmark in the development of the Mayapur project, but also in
\nISKCON's preaching mission, particularly in the area of
\ncongregational expansion.<\/tt><\/p>\n
\nopportunity to launch a worldwide campaign that aims at increasing
\nthe movement\u2019s awareness of the benefits of cultivating and
\ninvolving the congregation. The campaign involves a number of
\narticles and presentations by some of the pioneer preachers from
\nMayapur such as HH Jayapataka Maharaja, HH Bhakti Raghava Maharaja,
\nHH Bhakti Purusottama Maharaja, HH Gauranga Prema Maharaja, and
\nothers.<\/tt><\/p>\n
\ncoming Gaura Purnima festival where preachers from around the world
\nwill elaborate on the strategies and obstacles to successfully
\ndevelop congregations.<\/tt><\/p>\n
\nprevious acaryas,<\/em> the seminal book of Srila Bhaktivinoda
\nThakura, Godruma Kalpatavi,<\/em> \u201cThe Desire Trees of
\nGodruma,\u201d translated and commented upon by HH Jayapataka
\nMaharaja, will be released and made available to the community of
\ndevotees. This text provides a clear layout of the organization and
\nmethods utilized in spreading the holy name to every town and
