When is Breakfast and what rules must I follow?\u201d <br \/>\nDevotees told me, \u201cOkay. Devotional life means no mating, no sleeping, no defending, and no eating the meat, fish or eggs.\u201d <br \/>\nTo which I replied, \u201cBut what about the chicken?\u201d <br \/>\nThey said, \u201cNo. It has eggs in it.\u201d <br \/>\nI thought, \u201cThese people do not eat anything cookable!\u201d But they gave me such incredible prasadam I thought I had gone to the Heaven. <br \/>\nThen, one terrible day, I came for the breakfast and there was no such thing! They told me, \u201cOh, no breakfast today, Bhakta Igor. Today is fast day.\u201d <br \/>\nI said, \u201cWhat is that?\u201d <br \/>\nThey said, \u201cFasting means no eating.\u201d <br \/>\nI said, \u201cWait one minute; first you tell me \u2018do not eat anything cookable,\u2019 then you say &#8216;eat only prasadam&#8217;\u2014which is like magic carpet ride for the senses\u2014but now you are pulling carpet away? By then I would be dead. <br \/>\nVisions of gulab jamuns were dancing in my head and it was <\/p>\n<p>Life on a fast day <br \/>\nSurely make you lose your mind <br \/>\nLife on a fast day, Oh, yes. <\/p>\n<p>Eager for sweet rice, mad for the feast <br \/>\nThey said to help out in the kitchen. That did not help me in the least. <br \/>\nThey threw me out for salivating on the cutting board. They said, <br \/>\n\u201cTake your snout outside. You\u2019re spoiling bhoga of the Lord.\u201d <br \/>\nI made so many visit to the charanamrita stand <br \/>\nIt took seven strong pujaris to get the spoon out of my hand <br \/>\nI began hallucinating-one bar of soap became sandesh <br \/>\nI thought one tilak ball was laddhu, although maybe not so fresh and it was <\/p>\n<p>Life on a fast day <br \/>\nSurely make you lose your mind <br \/>\nLife on a fast day, Oh, yes. <br \/>\nLife on a fast day\u2014Check the time all the time. <br \/>\nLife on a fast day <\/p>\n<p>Crazy from hunger, blinded by thirst, <br \/>\nI thought this day would be so great. I had never felt worse <br \/>\nI even ate one tube of toothpaste just to keep from blacking out <br \/>\nI frightened one devotee; I was foaming at the mouth. <br \/>\nI told my Bhakta Leader, \u201cI think I\u2019m going to bloop!\u201d He said, <br \/>\n\u201cDrink a little water. Pretend it is soup.\u201d I said, <br \/>\n\u201cWhy is Krishna trying to kill me? I thought He was my friend!\u201d <br \/>\nHe said, \u201cChant your japa.
