\nOn Sunday, 16th February 2020, New Gokula Farm, Millfield, and its Newcastle, NSW, outreach centre cum restaurant, The Bhakti Tree, with the help of local and Sydney devotees resurrected Ratha Yatra (the Chariot Festival) at Newcastle foreshore to honour the 50th-year anniversary of the first Hare Krishna devotee, HG Upendra dasa, landing on Australian soil from USA. <\/p>\n
Previously, Ratha Yatra in this area was part of a larger council-organised parade called the Mattara parade. Then after a gap of nearly 10 years, with the mercy of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balarama and Lady Subhadra, an independent parade was possible this year, with the hope that this will continue on a yearly basis. <\/p>\n
The parade was well-attended, and over 300 plates of prasadam distributed to joyful attendees.<\/p>\n
