{"id":82788,"date":"2020-02-19T17:12:48","date_gmt":"2020-02-19T16:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=82788"},"modified":"2020-02-19T17:12:48","modified_gmt":"2020-02-19T16:12:48","slug":"opportunity-trainee-priest-at-the-bhaktivedanta-manor-hare-krishna-temple-watford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=82788","title":{"rendered":"Opportunity: Trainee priest at the Bhaktivedanta Manor Hare Krishna Temple, Watford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>-Must be able to attend morning services every day at 4.30am<\/p>\n<p>-Willing to participate in services such as prayers, holding discourses for congregation, <\/p>\n<p>-Should be able to explore innovative methods of promoting spiritual teachings to society such as through drama, dance, social media and music, etc. <\/p>\n<p>-Willing to commit 2 years to the position<\/p>\n<p>-Willing to travel.<\/p>\n<p>-Articulate in speech, people orientated and a good communicator<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Must have good health <\/p>\n<p>-Ability to live in a much<a id=\"aGoBack\"><\/a> regulated environment under discipline and authority<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; This would entail living a lifestyle of complete celibacy, no gambling, completely vegetarian diet and no intoxication <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Also all trainee priests are expected to daily chant a minimum of 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna sound vibration as part of their daily spiritual practices<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Willing to live in a communal environment with other trainee priests<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prior requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>-Must have spent a minimum of 3 months in a Krishna conscious temple living in a monastic setting<\/p>\n<p>(This should have taken place within the last 2-3 years)<\/p>\n<p>-Should have 1 years\u2019 experience of chanting 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra everyday<\/p>\n<p>-Should have a minimum of 6 months experience of living a lifestyle of complete celibacy, no gambling, completely vegetarian diet and no intoxication <\/p>\n<p>-Must be regularly reading Krishna conscious literature everyday<\/p>\n<p>*Must have some scholastic understanding of the philosophy, preferably having done a course at one of our ISKCON temples on the level of a Bhaktin course.<\/p>\n<p>Thus a having foundational understanding of:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vaishnava Devotional practice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vaishnava Theology and Philosophy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vaishnava Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being Bi-lingual and University educated is also very much desired<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stipend \u2013 \u00a3240 towards personal needs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>*Food, accommodation, transport and all essential utilities provided by the temple<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Service hours per week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To complete a minimum of 35 hours of service per week over 6 days. They will have one day of rest each week and be required to do 6 hours of service on weekdays and 5 hours on Sundays.
