Dear Friends and Devotees,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n from Monday 17th of <\/span><\/span>May<\/span> the temple will open!<\/span><\/p>\nThe Temple is able to welcome up to 10 guests at a time.  We humbly request you to call the temple on 02 4998 1800<\/span> <\/span>

Devotees at the farm have been busy during the lock down period with a range of services including fencing, gardening and even collecting honey from our beehives.<\/span><\/p>\nLast week we celebrated Sri Narasimhadeva Jayanti. We are pleased to announce that Dr Kathy Cornack from Holistic Vets Newcastle has adopted our herd as their Holistic Vet and is providing her services for free. Dr Kathy loves cows and is passionate about natural health for animals and also about supporting the human-animal bond. At the moment she is assisting us with natural treatments to assist the older cows who have arthritis and has already provided us with invaluable knowledge and support. We feel very blessed to have the support of such an experienced, knowledgeable and kind person. You can find out more about her here<\/span><\/a>

We would also like to acknowledge and thank all of our cow sponsors and supporters throughout the very long drought. At its worst, it cost $350 a day to feed the herd with hay and we wouldn’t have been able to do this without your help. Whilst the drought has lifted and the pastures are green, the long drought has deteriorated the soil and unfortunately the grass growth isn’t as lush as we’d hope for. We will need to provide them with hay soon until the soil recovers, but we enter winter in a much better position this year. The cows have enjoyed having fresh grass, are much happier and have put on weight<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n

Mayuri is a special soul and has been very friendly since the beginning. She was purchased as a calf from a beef farmer on a neighbouring property, and maybe she knew just how lucky she was. Humble and tolerant, she will stand back and defer to any cow with horns. She is popular amongst the herd and is good friends with Nayana, Rajeshwari and Annapurna who groom each other. As she is so friendly and chilled out, she will also allow humans to touch and hug her, and as a result of this beautiful nature there have been many go pujas with her. At 11 years of age, she is an eternal child and can be very playful. Each morning she runs excitedly to the dairy to be milked, even though it may only be 3 metres away!<\/span><\/p>\nWe are now publishing photos and profiles on each of our cows on our Facebook page. In particular the culprit is FIREWEED.<\/span><\/span>

New Gokula has two beehives from which Stuart and Kaliya have recently extracted around 25 Litres of honey. On the 6th of May we celebrated Sri Narasimha Jayanti. <\/span>
\n Sri Narasimha Jayanti is the appearance day of Lord Narasimha, the half-lion half-man incarnation of Supreme Lord Krishna, who appeared to protect Prahlada from his demoniac father Hiranyakashipu.<\/span>

Wayne Purcell<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have been to the temple in the last couple of years, you would have probably seen Wayne, he is always engaged in some type of service! Wayne has had a long history with the Hare Krishna’s, he first met the devotees in Newcastle back in 2002. At the time there was a temple in Mayfeild, Newcastle. He got to know the devotees and the next year he started service at the Hare Krishna Cafe in Wolf street. He also started going to the Newcastle University to serve food at the Veggie Club. Wayne was involved in renovations to the Mayfield temple and the Hare Krishna Cafe.<\/span><\/p>\nThe Veggie club continued to grow from 2-4 days a week and from 2007-2011 Wayne was the Assistant Manager at the Govinda’s cafe (formerly the Hare Krishna Cafe). In 2014 Wayne started renovating The Bhakti Tree in Newcastle and also started his service at the farm. His service at the farm is very varied from maintenance to recycling, sanitation to farm machinery. Wayne is also the Men’s representative and during the lock down he has been looking after the needs of all of the devotees on the farm. The Bhakti Tree<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bhakti Tree is now open 6 days per week, Tuesday to Sunday for Lunch 11:30am to 2pm and Dinner 6pm to 8pm<\/span>
\n ; with the South Indian dishes available on both Saturday<\/span> and Sunday. From<\/span><\/span>
\n <\/span>Friday 15th May<\/span>, The Bhakti Tree will be allowed to have up to 10 people sitting in the restaurant, enjoying
\n a meal. This is the first stage of easing restrictions and The Bhakti Tree team is looking forward to inviting people back into the restaurant to enjoy a meal and hope that we
