Vrndavana April 5th 1976, the opening of the branch of Punjab National Bank in Krsna Balarama Mandir\u2019s guest house.
\nAs you see Prabhupada was very happy and even told a joke. The bank manager also told a joke : April 5th 1976 – Vrndavana:
\nIn mid-morning he attended the opening of a new branch of the Punjab National Bank here in our guest house. Prabhup\u00e4da was in a jovial mood, and he and the bank manager amused the devotees by exchanging jokes and telling a few humorous stories. As the devotees eagerly crowded into the room to listen, Prabhup\u00e4da explained how Kuvera, the treasurer of the demigods, had offered Dhruva Mah\u00e4r\u00e4ja any benediction he wanted. Dhruva simply asked Kuvera to bless him with continual devotion to Lord K\u00e5\u00f1\u00eba. To the cheers of the devotees, he explained that in the same way he now has a bank that can give him any amount, but he simply requested the bank\u2019s blessings that he remain K\u00e5\u00f1\u00eba\u2019s servant.
\nThe bank manager also told a similar story, but requesting Prabhup\u00e4da\u2019s blessings. He then told a joke about a man who was due for a heart transplant. He could choose to use a general\u2019s heart, a businessman\u2019s, or a banker\u2019s. When he chose the banker\u2019s he was asked why. \u201cOh, because I am quite sure it has never been used!\u201d
\nPrabhup\u00e4da laughed heartily and ended the meeting with a joke of his own. \u201cThe story is that one poor man was informed by his friend that \u2018money draws money.\u2019 That\u2019s a fact. If you have got money, you can draw [attract] money. So he went to the bank, and the cashier was counting a huge amount of money and he threw his coin on the cash.\u201d Prabhup\u00e4da started laughing even before he finished. \u201cAnd he was waiting, ‘When the whole money will come to me?\u2019
\nThen the cashier saw this man is standing, ‘What is that? Why you are standing?\u2019
\n\u201d’Sir, I heard that money draws money, so I had one coin. I have dropped with your money. I am waiting when it will come to me.\u2019
\nSo he said, ‘No, no. The fact is that\u2014money draws money. Now my money has drawn your money!\u2019\u201c
\nPrabhup\u00e4da laughed so much his belly and shoulders shook. All the devotees, who rarely see him so relaxed and open, laughed and cheered along with his jubilation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
