His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami was Immune to Material Miseries<\/strong><\/p>\nSrila Prabhupada makes us understand that \u2018a cent-percent devotee of the Lord is immune to the dreadful material miseries of repeated birth and death\u2019 (SB 1.3.39, purport). And \u2018service to the Lord is rendered in pure consciousness of one’s spiritual identity; by service one is immediately freed from material encumbrances (SB 1.1.2, purport). \u2018Because a devotee is freed from all contaminated material association, he is not affected by the miseries of material existence. Even though he appears to be in the material world, he is not affected by the miseries of the material world (SB 3.25.24, purport).<\/p>\n

Srila Prabhupada, \u201cSo at the risk of his life he did it. That is the nature of devotee. Therefore the preacher devotee is the most dearest devotee of Lord. That is stated in the Bhagavad-gita. They are going outside, they are preaching, they are meeting opposing elements. Sometimes they are defeated, sometimes disappointed, sometimes able to convince, there are different kinds of people. So, not that every devotee is very well equipped. There are three classes of devotees also. But that endeavor, that “I shall go and preach Krsna consciousness,” is the best service to the Lord. Successful or Not, the Attempt itself to Preach is Success<\/strong><\/p>\nSrila Prabhupada, “As many towns and villages are there, you must preach this cult.” That is really devotee, one who is doing this. He may not be very successful preacher; that doesn’t matter. Because he is doing that, he is first-class devotee. Anywhere you go, that is real love. That is real follower. What his predecessor has ordered, that must be done. At any risk. It doesn’t matter whether it is being nicely done or not nicely done — because he is attempting to do that, that is sufficient. That very attempt will make him successful. This is the principle\u201d(Room Conversation — January 30, 1974, Tokyo). His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami was a first-class devotee, irrespective of being successful or not \u2013 however His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami still has been most successful in his various services to Srila Prabhupada, the Devotees and ISKCON. And \u2018the preacher of krsna-katha is always beyond the clutches of death\u2019 (Nectar of Instruction, Text 1, purport).<\/p>\n
His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami is Most Dear to Sri Krishna<\/strong><\/p>\nSrila Prabhupada, \u201cSo a preacher has the risk. Therefore Krsna says, “These field workers who are engaged in preaching this Bhagavad-gita as it is, they are very, very dear to Me. Very, very dear to Me.” Na ca tasman manusyesu kascin me priya-krttamah [Bg. 18.69]. “There is nobody dearer to Me than that person who preaches this confidential truth to the people.” (Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.5.8-9 – May 24, 1969, New Vrindaban)<\/p>\n
Yes, His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami is most dear to Sri Sri Radha Madana-Mohana and equally so to Srila Prabhupada. I pray to Sripada Bhakti Charu Swami to bless me to try to follow in his footsteps to, as Srila Prabhupada said, \u201cChant Hare Krishna, Spread Hare Krishna\u201d.<\/p>\n
