2020, an unforgettable year
\nMasked people hide fear after fear
\nTraffic lights still blink red and green
\nLife goes on in a hazy dream<\/p>\n
The dead lay to rest without a farewell
\nWho\u2019s to join them is hard to tell
\nSome don\u2019t care for they are deaf to reason
\nTheir reckless behaviour is said to be treason<\/p>\n
The thoughtless or the cautious are in the same boat
\nIf the boat goes down, nobody will float
\nBut even if we can\u2019t control the wind or the tide
\nWe can make a difference by looking inside<\/p>\n
Inside our hearts lie desires so deep
\nLust and greed we tenderly keep
\nAnger and hate in our minds we churn
\nWhen we fall or falter, we hardly ever learn <\/p>\n
The bombs still go off in the Middle East
\nRacial tension becomes a formidable beast
\nKillings and hatred predominate the earth
\nIs there any hope for the world\u2019s rebirth?<\/p>\n
Have we not learned from the perils we\u2019ve faced
\nThat we are in this world momentarily placed?
\nGreat seers warn us that danger\u2019s at every step
\nThe world is a platform to reform and reflect<\/p>\n
We can turn to the darkness or to the light
\nWe can hear God\u2019s voice or block our ears tight
\nWe can seek the purpose for which we were born
\nOr drown in our sorrows, destitute and forlorn<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s choose the way to end our pain
\nFulfilment and happiness we\u2019ve searched for in vain
\nGod\u2019s love can lead us to eternal bliss
\nLet\u2019s take His hand so the path we don\u2019t miss<\/p>\n
He tells us to do our work with detachment
\nTo offer the results for His satisfaction
\nTo live in harmony with nature and life
\nTo remember Him in happiness and strife<\/p>\n
When we turn to the Divine, the fountain of bliss
\nWe wonder why we had gone amiss
\nFor His shelter is like the soothing moon
\nThat gives us answers, a liberating boon <\/p>\n
Why am I suffering? Why am I here?
\nWho am I? Am I meant to be in fear?
\nWhat do I take when I leave this sphere?
\nNot even my body that I\u2019ve held so dear<\/p>\n
So let\u2019s not waste time in frivolous play
\nIn pursuit of pleasures that do not stay
\nWhy accept iron when you can have gold
\nGod\u2019s kingdom is yours the scriptures have told<\/p>\n
When we see we are meant for something more
\nThere\u2019ll be a change of tide like never before
\nWe\u2019ll reprieve the earth and mend our ways
\nAnd receive divine blessings till the end of our days<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
