\nJanuary thru June \u2014 we will study the entire Second Canto of \u015ar\u012bmad-Bh\u0101gavatam.<\/p>\n
At the end of the First Canto Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Par\u012bk\u1e63it was cursed to die in seven days. Thus he gave up everything and sat down on the banks of the Ganges River to prepare for his death.<\/p>\n
At that time many great sages arrived, and finally the \u015aukadeva Gosv\u0101m\u012b appeared.<\/p>\n
Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Par\u012bk\u1e63it thus asked, “You are the spiritual master of great saints and devotees. I am therefore begging you to show the way of perfection for all persons, and especially for one who is about to die.<\/p>\n
“Please let me know what a man should hear, chant, remember and worship, and also what he should not do. Please explain all this to me.” (SB 1.19.37-38)<\/p>\n
We pick up in the Second Canto with \u015aukadeva Gosv\u0101m\u012b’s answer to Mah\u0101r\u0101ja Par\u012bk\u1e63it. We will study all 10 Chapters of this Canto from January\u2014June 2021. In those chapters \u015aukadeva also refers to the instructions imparted by Lord K\u1e5b\u1e63\u1e47a to Brahm\u0101 at the dawn of creation, so we will include a study of Brahma-sa\u1e41hit\u0101 (Brahm\u0101’s account of these same events) during July.<\/p>\n
