{"id":9238,"date":"2011-01-31T10:15:48","date_gmt":"2011-01-31T09:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=9238"},"modified":"2011-01-31T10:15:48","modified_gmt":"2011-01-31T09:15:48","slug":"does-faith-need-religious-institution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=9238","title":{"rendered":"Does faith need religious institution ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Puskaraksa das: my posting on the open blog of the World Economic Forum in regards to the topic discussed as mentioned earlier \/ below, was:<\/p>\n<p>Faith, sraddha in sanskrit, is the first step for one who engages on the spiritual path&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Then comes the association with other spiritually inclined persons and especially with those who are more advanced than us&#8230;<br \/>\nThis spiritual association called in sanskrit, saddhu sanga, is especially conducive for spiritual advancement, and is certainly the purpose of the existence of spiritual institutions&#8230;<br \/>\nAs one engages in spiritual practice, called saddhana bhakti in sanskrit, under some spiritually advanced guidance, in the company of other spiritualists, one will gradually get purified (anartha nivritti) through this spiritual process and will naturally develop some taste and some spontaneous attraction for the spiritual sphere and will simultaneously become gradually free from material entanglement and the pursuit of selfish goals as well as from the addiction to temporary material pleasures, hence replaced by some permanent spiritual happiness.<br \/>\nIn this way, one will engage in sustainable development both on the level of the self, as well as on the level of one&#8217;s actions, becoming henceforth concerned by the global welfare of all beings, on our common earth planet&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Hoping this finds you well and in some nice devotional mood,<\/p>\n<p>Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada<\/p>\n<p>Puskaraksa das<\/p>\n<p>            Does faith need religious institution?<\/p>\n<p>            This question is debated at the Open World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland:<\/p>\n<p>         Open Forum Davos 2011 &#8211; Does Faith Need Religious Institution?<\/p>\n<p>            Open Forum Glaube<\/p>\n<p>The interest of people in existential questions and ethical orientation is unchanging. But the connection to institutions, even to churches, is decreasing. What social and socio-political responsibilities do religious institutions have? How do they convert faith?
