PART ONE<\/p>\n
It was in the Puranic era
\nWhen so much excitement was in the air
\nFor a great event was underway
\nA sacrifice with so much on display
\nWith ingredients\u2013ghee, grain, and fire
\nIntent to please the Creator’s desire
\nAttendees were sages, brahmins, gods from above
\nAnd others who appreciate this kind of cosmic love
\nAlso present was a very special bull
\nWho takes personal care of Shiva in full
\nShiva is the master of the world’s dissolution
\nA great yogi aloof from politic pollution
\nAt the ceremony there was mantra and sound
\nDance and all good things to be found
\nAll present there took to a comfortable seat
\nAfter a pleasant and very warm greet
\nHowever, at one point, all turned bitter
\nAnd a battle of words made it no better
\nSomeone from the ranks had an axe to grind
\nTowards Shiva who’s of a gentler kind
\nOur story, a tale of an in-law sort
\nTells of Shiva’s wife’s father, quite the bad sport
\nHis name, Daksha, a progenitor of man
\nWho became a guest of honour as was the plan
\nWhat happens to Shiva’s wife? An intriguing question
\nA sorrowful tale of domiciliary rejection<\/p>\n
PART TWO<\/p>\n
Shiva returned home to meet Sati, his consort
\nExplaining of insults, of etiquette falling short
\nLodged by Daksha; it left her in a quandary
\nThat husband and father will never have camaraderie
\nShe went on to meditate but her inner thought was broken
\nGoddesses in aerial travel caused urges to be awoken
\nThe women were en route with their fine divine men
\nTo destination\u2013her father’s\u2013for an event once again
\nSati was so much hankering to go
\nBut Shiva warned that friend will turn to foe
\nConfused by her love for him and familial affections
\nShe departed in favour of daughterly attention
\nDaksha ignored and snubbed proving himself cold
\nShe finally took a stance to be loud and scold
\nIntolerant of Daksha’s lack of human love
\nShe invoked her yogic fire and died thereof
\nThe news of the tragedy reached Shiva quite fast
\nWith ire raised high he was prepared to blast
\n“That scoundrel who dared to stoop so low
\nWill receive a sharp cut at the neck” and so…<\/p>\n
PART THREE<\/p>\n
Then came the voice of Brahma making a plea for peace
\n“To all gods and mortals may your fears all cease”
\nAt the roof of the world stands great Mount Kailash
\nThere sits Shiva in a setting simple not posh
\nContent that just deserts have played out
\nYet grieving his loss it’s left him some doubt<\/p>\n
Sati the heroine came to unite with her lord
\nReincarnated as Mena it’s what she had implored
\nShe’s the daughter of the great Himalayan king
\nNow marrying Shiva what joy that did bring
\nDaksha’s pride had been worn down
\nAppearing for a head was not a royal crown
\nA goat’s head made it to the top of the torso
\nHe learned meekness in ways that were more so
\nA karmic reaction to a mistake on his part
\nShiva’s feet became the target of his head and heart<\/p>\n
Forgiveness is an item for which one should beg
\nIt’s an option for one who’s on his last leg
\nBlessings of peace came from mortals and gods
\nA sacrifice resumed that challenged all odds<\/p>\n
