The pure devotee is actually equal toward everyone, as confirmed in Bhagavad-g\u012bt\u0101 (18.54): brahma-bh\u016bta\u1e25 prasann\u0101tm\u0101 na \u015bocati na k\u0101\u1e45k\u1e63ati\/ sama\u1e25 sarve\u1e63u bh\u016bte\u1e63u. Universal brotherhood is possible when one is a pure devotee (pa\u1e47\u1e0dit\u0101\u1e25 sama-dar\u015bina\u1e25 [Bg. 5.18]). A pure devotee is actually learned because he knows his constitutional position, he knows the position of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and he knows the relationship between the living entity and the Supreme Lord. Thus he has full spiritual knowledge and is automatically liberated (brahma-bh\u016bta\u1e25). He can therefore see everyone on the spiritual platform. He can comprehend the happiness and distress of all living entities. He understands that what is happiness to him is also happiness to others and that what is distress to him is distressing for others. Therefore he is sympathetic to everyone. As Prahl\u0101da Mah\u0101r\u0101ja said:<br \/>\n\u015boce tato vimukha-cetasa indriy\u0101rtha-<br \/>\nm\u0101y\u0101-sukh\u0101ya bharam udvahato vim\u016b\u1e0dh\u0101n<br \/>\n(Bh\u0101g. 7.9.43)<br \/>\nPeople suffer from material distress because they are not attached to the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
