Hare Krishna. Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
On this auspicious day of Govardhan Puja, we are very happy to launch our first eMagazine for Sanskrit Language – “Sanatani” – Culture of Eternity. This is our humble endeavour to share with everyone, various topics through the medium of Sanskrit language. Through different sections of this magazine viz. shastric learning, stories, values, recipes and vocabulary we hope that we will be able to serve a broad reader base.
Our motive behind these initiatives is to introduce Sanskrit as a part of our daily conversation and revive the language’s use in our daily lives. Unfortunately, it is very sad to know that many feel Sanskrit is a ‘language’ only to chant Vedic hymns, whilst only a few hundred years ago this was one of the most important languages spoken in the greater part of the Indian sub-continent. Even now, there are some villages in India where people have Sanskrit as their conversational language. It is also very interesting to note that Sanskrit is the mother of all Indo-European languages.
Through Sanatani, we will announce to our readers our upcoming publications and products. At Goloka Education, along with various projects and curriculum development, one of our main focuses is to create resources for teaching Sanskrit language in an easily accessible way. We have already launched a preliminary series of text books and resources which are in their second printing.
Sanatani is also intended to be a medium to share and receive feedback, thoughts and comments from international readers about the Sanskrit language. Please feel free to write to us with your feedback and comments on this introductory issue. We will be happy to get your input for improving this magazine to make it much more lively and interesting for our readers.
Finally, we seek your blessings, wishes and prayers to take this initiative forward for the pleasure of the Lord and his devotees.
Your servants, Prana Das
