Hare Krishna.
As a home grower of food for decades now there is a holistic approach to take for good health. Unless food is grown at home, and locally, its impossible to know how the food has been grown and the amount of chemicals, pesticides and herbicides the food systemically contains ( and micro-plastics). The so called "organic" food is also highly questionable because of the animal products used from the animal slaughter industry. This leaves very little wriggle room to buy food for devotees that could be considered healthy. To actually grow healthy food, healthy earth(soil) is also required. And then we need natural seeds to sow. Most food is either grown with F1 seed which is impotent or with genetically modified plants. These are not conducive for deep health or immune support.
Another by-product of commercial food is the amount of violence it contains to produce it. Just eating violent food in itself is an imbalance of energies. From Srimad Bhagavatam 3.29.15 we are taught to execute minimum violence in the practice of devotional service, not violence and not non-violence.This is the required scriptural standard of food production for devotional service. This dynamic takes years to perfect, experience to execute and knowledge to perform. Growing food for devotional service is not just a science but an art form, and a fully holistic dynamic approach is required.
Can you please elaborate on "we are taught to execute minimum violence in the practice of devotional service, not violence and not non-violence." Very interesting.
S.B 3.29.15. English transliteration by Srila Prabhupada." A devotee must execute his prescribed duties, which are glorious, without material profit. Without excessive violence, one should regularly perform one's devotional activities." In Srila Prabhupada's purport He writes "Another significant phrase in this verse is "natihimsrena" ( with minimum violence or sacrifice of life). Even if a devotee has to commit violence, it should not be done beyond what is necessary……We have to commit violence; that is a natural law……." excerpted from purport 3.29.15.
The purport is all related to food etc and the instruction and teaching for devotees is to commit minimum violence or natihimsrena in their practice of devotional service. If you read the whole purport Srila Prabhupada explains this clearly. If the instruction had been Ahimsa or non-violence a devotee would find this impossible to follow because violence is a natural law of the material world and producing any food Non-violently is inherently not possible. So the practical instruction is Minimum Violence.Conversely Violence is easy to perform because it is a natural law. So we are instructed to minimize that violence as much as possible.
we have to stay away from fry foods. No eating at night too often..Avoid sugar as much as possible. No processed foods.Lots of raw foods.Fruits ,vegs, seeds, salads, nuts ,beans, some grains. .Some Greek yogurt plain.Hot,and warm water.Eat as healthy as possible.Steam vegs. are also good for the Human System.I eat like that. Learn it from the Nutrition Books. Thanks.
