Unflinching Faith in Spiritual master

by Administrator
Hare KrishnaBy Giriraj Das

Whatever position one may have, if he is fully conversant with the science of Krsna, Krsna consciousness, he can become a bona fide spiritual master, initiator, a teacher of this science. In other words one can become a bona fide spiritual master if he has sufficient knowledge of the science of Krsna, Krsna consciousness. The position does not depend on a particular position in society or on birth. This is the conclusion of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and it is in accordanc...

Niranjana Swami on book distribution

by Administrator
Hare KrishnaBy Niranjana Swami

I was recently inspired. It was the 2nd day of our GBC meetings. I was completely absorbed the whole day, which for me is not something very easy. I am not so inclined to meetings, but on this 2nd day of our GBC meetings, there was only one subject, and that was book distribution.

“Extremity as an Anartha”

by Administrator
While our little Sravanam Diaries podcast was on a break, a hiatus so to speak, I've observed a very interesting phenomena around myself. I've seen this trend my whole life, but, perhaps, now I'm old enough to talk about it. Or even just acknowledge it and try to see it in proper light. ...

Krishna the Darling of Vrindavan: Killing of the Demon Dhenukasura (video)

by Administrator
By ISKCON-London Radha-Krishna Temple

Upon hearing the sound of the falling fruits, the demon Dhenukasura, who was living there in the form of an ass, began to approach with great force, shaking the whole field so that all the trees began to move as if there were an earthquake. The demon appeared first before Balarama and began to kick His chest with his hind legs. At first, Balarama did not say anything, but the demon with great anger began to kicked Him again more vehemently. This time Balarama immediately caught hold of the legs of the ass with one hand and, wheeling him around, threw him into the treetop...

Sarasvati ”Maharaj”

by Administrator
By HDG A.C.B. Swami Prabhupada

Be Very Careful, If one does not chant Hare Krishna, Sarasvati ''Maharaj'' may give you a ''Slap'', and ''Sarasvati, is preaching, "Do you know Krsna?" Here, the daughter of Malati, Sarasvati, is giving us much pleasure in her Krishna Consciousness activities. She is so nice that as soon as there is chanting sound of kirtana immediately she begins to dance and clap. Even the audience becomes astonished and they follow her activities. It is very nice.

Plant based Dietary Lobby groups bring attention to the cow in the room by proposing less cows and other animals

by Administrator
By Syamasundara Das

In Jennifer Mishler's article she mentions ‘environmental harms of animal agriculture, often left out of climate change discussions—and most importantly—not addressed in climate policy or action.’ At first glance we might think yes, we would agree with that, we have heard it so many times that it practically rolls off our own tongues. But I ask you to hold on for a minute and pick out the various issues and wonder if we agree with the premise then. In the article the environmental harms are not specifically sited and hence we don’t know what is being referred to. It is...

Krishna, the Supreme Cowherd Boy

by Administrator
Hare KrishnaBy MCO staff

Many important pastimes take place on Gopastami. One pastime takes place on this day a few years after Krishna first started tending the cows. On this day, Jatila once forbade Srimati Radhika to perform her customary puja at the distant Surya Kunda, concerned that her daughter-in-law was spending too much time outside home. Being restricted to the confinement of her in-laws’ house, Sri Radha felt dejected and began to cry an ocean of tears– of what use was Her life if it was devoid of Her Prananath, Krishna?

Rajendrananda Prabhu Departs this World

by Administrator
By Badrinarayan Swami

Rajendranandana prabhu’s health had been failing for some time, and two or three weeks ago he was diagnosed with terminal spinal cancer. He was given three months to live. In the Vaisnava fashion so typical of Raj prabhu, he took the diagnosis as Krishna’s mercy and began to prepare himself for this final test. By the merciful arrangement of the Supreme Lord, he passed away within two weeks (instead of the projected several months).

The disappearance of HDG A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

by Administrator
Hare KrishnaBy Radhanath Swami

We Celebrate Both, Appearance & Disappearance: On the disappearance of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, Srila Prabhupada taught us how to observe this day of the disappearance of the Guru. He explained that there is no difference between appearance and disappearance on the spiritual level. Because, for such divine realized souls who are in contact with the eternal soul, there coming and going into this world are both only for the benefit of those who love them. Of course, on the appearance there is usually a great celebration and on the disappearance there is the ...

Govardhana-puja

by Administrator
Hare KrishnaBy Giriraj Swami

Sometimes people are suspicious if spiritual performances are too simple. They want to see something elaborate, something gorgeous, something complicated, and then they have faith that it is proper. Srila Prabhupada used the same approach as mentioned here when he installed the Deities of Krishna-Balarama in Vrindavan. He invited the local brahmans to chant mantras and light sacrificial fires. He did so to satisfy them and to inspire faith in the community that the installation was being done properly. Later, Srila Prabhupada wrote, “We would simply have performed sankir...

Govardhana Puja

by Administrator

Ambika devi dasi: The name 'Govardhana' has two meanings: 'Go' means 'cows' and 'vardhana' means 'nourishment'. 'Go' also means 'the senses' and 'vardhana' is 'to increase'. So Govardhana nourishes the cows and increases the senses in attraction to Krishna.
