By Bir Krishna GoswamiI am very much in favor of the peaceful protests. There has been gross injustice done to many segments of our society for many, many years. It is everyone’s inalienable right to be treated fairly regardless of whatever type of body they have, and to be engaged according to their nature. It’s good that this is happening to a certain extent; not the violence. Many people are coming to the understanding that they have been mislead, and cheated by the leaders who are not actual leaders. They are misleaders. The current situation can stimulate people to think twice about their goals. ...

"Kalonji seeds (Nigella sativa) - pictured on the left - are not seeds of the onion plant. There is no connection. It is a colloquial term only, because they apparently look like onion seeds. To make the confused issue even more confusing, kaloni/nigella are also sometimes called black cumin, but this is also a mistake.

By Himani ChandnaAn article in the peer-reviewed European Heart Journal said Krishna's teaching to Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita held lessons for the world tackling Covid today. The Bhagavad Gita is more relevant than ever, especially now in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, says an article in The European Heart Journal, a peer-reviewed journal of cardiology published by Oxford University, and likened “Prince Arjuna” to healthcare workers and the Kurukshetra battlefield to hospitals.

By Govinda dasiBrahmananda had a protective mood of Srila Prabhupada, and this is what I most appreciated. I had a similar mood, almost a nurturing motherly mood--yet he was a huge mountain of a man--entirely capable of downing any aggressor. One story goes that an aggressor moved toward Srila Prabhupada, and Prabhupada calmly pointed to Brahmananda, and said, “This man will kill you if I ask him to...” And Brahmananda would have, most assuredly! He would have given his life to protect Srila Prabhupada. A...

We pray that these auspicious circumstances, along with Brahmananda Prabhu's deep desire to eternally serve Srila Prabhupada, now find him situa...

What other people expect of us, especially what the world expects of us, should not be a big concern. And what other people think about is not as important as what we think about ourselves. The goal of life is to become Krsna consciousness, not to fulfill society’s expectations of us. And our expectations for ourselves should be ours, not others.

According to the Garga-Samhita, in her past life, Putana was Ratnamala, the daughter of Bali Maharaja (Brahma-vaivarta Purana mentions that she was Bali’s sister). Seeing the charming form of Lord Vamana as a dwarf brahmana boy in Bali’s sacrifice, Ratnamala felt for the Lord a mother’s love for her son. She thought, “What a wonderful boy? If I had a beautiful son like Him, then I would offer Him my milk.” The Lord sanctioned her spontaneous desire. However, when Vamanadeva took away the entire kingdom of Bali, Ratnamala’s loving mood changed into one of hatred. Within her mind she thought, “If I have ...

The ultimate culmination of ascetic experience is when the object of art overwhelms the senses and mind of the connoisseur. This is astonishment.
