Just like wet stool and dry stool. Stool is stool, but somebody is saying that wet stool is better than dry stool. What is this good and bad? The top side of some stool is dry and the bottom side is wet, but anyway that you take it, the material world is stool, and it must be given up. Therefore, we are trying to get out of the material world and go back to Home, Back to Godhead.

Sacinandana Swami: I believe the most difficult part of being a conditioned soul is dealing with the silence of God. All devotees – especially older ones – arrive at the point of questioning, “I’m trying, I’m calling out to You, I’m giving my best – do You care? Do you notice? Is it important to You? Can You notice?” However, Krsna is never silent.

HG Vaisesika Prabhu recommends spending quality time in which one’s child, partner, or other loved person receives one’s undivided attention, in such a way as to strengthen the relationship. The same principle valid for our japa, hearing or studying the Sastra, during our worship in the temple and with our association with the devotees. Undivided attention is crucial!

A few days ago, Niranjana Swami wrote me a letter in which he said, “I meditate a lot on Sridhar Maharaja. I miss him.” And when I asked him to tell me more about his meditation, he replied, “I honestly can’t fully explain it. He became so unbelievably dear to me in Mayapur—the way he loved his godbrothers, the way he loved me.

When I was a new devotee, maybe less than two years in the movement, I approached Srila Prabhupada one day while he was getting his massage on the veranda of the Calcutta temple. “Srila Prabhupada,” I said, “I have been thinking about what pleases you most.” Srila Prabhupada took every word into his heart. He replied, “Yes.” I said, “The two things that seem to please you the most are distributing your books and building the big temple in Mayapur.” Srila Prabhupada smiled with great appreciation and said, “Thank you very much.”

We are the Most Fortunate! (6 min. video)
Mahatma Das: One of the big obstacles to chanting good japa is a lack of appreciation of our good fortune. It is so rare that Mahaprabhu appears in this particular incarnation to give the premanama that we are among the most fortunate souls in the universe. Why? The holy name can take us from the lowest position of material existence to the highest position of spiritual perfection, and we don’t require any qualification to chant the maha-mantra. If we remember this, then while we chant our rounds we will...

"In His childhood the Lord was profusely decorated with gold ornaments. Once upon a time He was playing outside His house, and two thieves passing on the street saw the opportunity to rob the Lord and therefore took Him on their shoulders, pleasing Him by offering Him some sweetmeats. The thieves thought they would carry the child to the forest and then kill Him and take away the ornaments.
