On Saturday 30th July, after a Covid hiatus of two years, the 20th annual Ratha Yatra festival was celebrated, attended by over 1,500 devotees. As seems almost traditional now, it rained steadily until the Rath Cart started rolling and then it stopped raining until the whole festival was over!
Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra, the Lords and Lady of the Universe, led the parade from Parnell Square, down O’Connell Street (the main thoroughfare in Dublin) to Merrion Square Park.
There was then more kirtana, a play, dancing and a philosophical talk. There were multiple gazebos with a variety of activities, including a book table, a Q & A booth and henna painting etc. Much prasadam was distributed and a transcendentally good time was had by one and all!
