ISKCON Philadelphia Participates in Interfaith Event

On April 29th, ISKCON Philadelphia participated in the Philadelphia Interfaith Walk for Peace and Reconciliation, a walking dialogue between Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Wiccans and others. The walk is an opportunity to promote religious tolerance while acknowledging areas of difference. The walk typically stops at three different houses of worship, with various activities and presentations happening at each.

This year, the Philadelphia temple was invited to participate. About 30 devotees took part in the walk and then we had the opportunity to have kirtan as one of the final presentations. Although the kirtan was short due to time restrictions, the audience was enthusiastically chanting and they were starting to dance when it was time to stop. The devotees also shared a short purport from Bhagavatam. For the reception, prasadam was served to about 400 people.

Afterward, the organizers and general public thanked the devotees for chanting and providing prasadam and were extremely happy with the temple’s participation. This was a very successful outreach endeavor for ISKCON Philadelphia and was helpful in creating an awareness of the Krsna consciousness in the city.
