Drumila Dasa: Mystical Story!
A friend of mine Jude Acer, a big name in the world of chess (tied Bobby Fisher when he was younger), told me a great chess celebrity was going to be here today. So I tried my best to make it, but was late, and he was already gone. I was having a particularly tough day, so bad that I turned back the other way to head back towards my car, (wasn’t quiting, just changing my usually route) and I never ever do that, I always tough it out. Then I realized that he was at a different location, called the Envie Coffee Shop on Decatur. There’s a Chess club that plays there regularly.
I noticed they were doing a lot of filming with expensive cameras, and I was talking to one of the film crew and asking him if he could give him a Bhagavad-Gita on my behalf for him. He said he would try his best and we exchanged phone numbers.
But then all of a sudden there he was, the chess ‘Grandmaster’ himself coming towards me, ‘Hikaru Nakamura’.
He is ranked the number one chess player in America! And ranked number five in the world! He graciously excepted a Bhagavad-Gita from me, and was most humble and kind to allow me to take a picture of him with his Bhagavat Gita As it Is by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada!
He was actually familiar with the book too! I could see that it was all Krishna‘s arrangement, that I turned back the other way, which, like I say, I never do.
