Dear Devotees,
Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
The Sastra Dana project of BBT Africa is rolling out a programme to place Srila Prabhupada’s books in the 242 prisons in South Africa. Our long-term aim is to ultimately cover all prisons throughout the African continent. South Africa is ranked amongst the top 10 countries in the world with the highest crime rates and there are approximately 160,000 prisoners in our prisons. These persons have been placed behind bars to rectify their behaviours and give them a chance to become better citizens of society.
As devotees, we now have an opportunity to offer these inmates access to the highest knowledge and lifestyle to not only become better citizens of human society, but also to come out of the prison house of material nature and to ultimately become devotees of Krishna and return home back to Godhead. To make this happen, we ask for your kind support. Please sponsor a medium set of books for a prison. A medium set comprises of 20 of key individual books (like the Bhagavad-Gita As It Is, the Krishna book, the Veda book, and 17 small books). A medium set is provided at no profit, and can be sponsored for US$ 40. For all 242 prisons this equates to $9,680.
For each set sponsored, a sponsor note shall be inserted honouring the donor and the cause of the donation. We have a target that by the end of September we wish to hand over 242 medium sets of books to the Department of Correctional Services in Pretoria, South Africa. Please do come forward and take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to sponsor Srila Prabhupada’s books for prison inmates. On the back of this successful book drive we will be commencing a formal prison preaching program in South Africa, and so the success of this programme is vitally important for the future.
Payment can be made via PayPal. Please feel free to contact us on Sastradana@bbtafrica.co.za or on our contact details below, we look forward to hearing from you, and will provide you with the updates on progress.
Hare Krishna!
