Here is a Sankirtana story.
It is now pollen season around here. That means there is yellow pollen covering everything. It is especially noticeable on all the cars. It is also on my car. There was quite a bit of it on my car’s trunk lid. So I decided to write “Nitai-Gauranga” in the pollen with the tip of my finger.
Anyway, I drive for Uber and Lyft. So this morning, I had to pick up one Duke University student and bring her to the airport. She had a suitcase which I had to help her put in the trunk of my car. Before I had a chance to open the trunk, she noticed that I had written “Nitai-Gauranga” on it and wanted me to tell her what it means. ha ha ha. That one caught me off guard. Never had to explain that to someone who doesn’t know a drop about Krsna Consciousness. So I said, “Oh, that’s very nice that you noticed those words. They are very much connected with the type of yoga I practice. She responded, “Oh, that’s very interesting. Can you explain more about it?”
So then the whole half hour trip to the airport was spent explaining the philosophy of Krsna Consciousness to her. “You’re not that body.” “We are all eternal spiritual souls.”We are eternally servants of Krsna but we have forgotten that.”, etc. etc. “One can only be truly satisfied by catering to the needs of the soul,” and on and on.
The whole time she was all ears. Very receptive and inquisitive. Amazing.
Also, while we were driving to the airport, there was a kirtan playing the whole time. And my car has a touchscreen. And on that touch screen is the entire Hare Krsna Mahamantra for all to view.
When we got to the airport, I gave her a small plastic bag containing copies of Chant and Be Happy, Perfection of Yoga, Intro to Bhagavad-gita, On Chanting Hare Krsna, and a prasadam lollipop. She thanked me very much for giving her something to read on the airplane. And then off she went into the terminal.
All this because I wrote Nitai-Gauranga in the pollen on my car. Little did I realize the significance and the future results.
Param Vijayate Sri Krsna Sankirtanam!
