Hare Krishna!
First of all I would like to thank every one, who has helped with donations towards the care of Krishna Kishore das. It has been very moving to see how we have such a wonderful caring Vaisnava Community coming together and helping this senior Srila Prabhupada disciple from Argentina.
If any one would like to contribute towards Krishna Kishore’s care, please donate by following the Paypal link provided.
Prabhu has been shifted to a small apartment in the Mayapur housing area. His wife, Lila Govardhan, along with her two children, has also moved to Mayapur from Brazil to fully care for her husband.
As Krishna Kishor’s health is declining by the day, he has become very frail and weak. The costs for his care and medication have also increased. As Lila Govardhan is the main caretaker, we are finding a full time babysitter for her 10-month-old son, Hari Deva.
Krishna Kishore Prabhu is fully bed ridden and also become partially paralyzed. Besides the liver cancer, which has metastasized to his spine, his caregivers are now dealing with a new problem, which are “bedsores”.
Bedsores are a localized area of tissue injury that develops when soft tissue is compressed between a bony prominence and an external surface for a prolonged period of time. Bed sores result when prolonged pressure prevents sufficient blood flow to supply the tissues with nutrients. The resulting bed sore represents the death of the involved soft tissues.
Due to the metastatic cancer in his spine, there are only limited positions Prabhu can be in on the bed. So, we have provided a special mattress to minimize the occurrence of these sores. Even though his caregivers are changing his position often, still, one of the sores has developed into an apparently stage IV and is very difficult to treat.
A complex system of nerve pathways, the spinal cord controls certain reflexes and instantaneously relays information between the brain and the body. Cancer metastasizing to the spinal cord destroys these vital pathways from within. Cancer in the dura area may cause swelling of tissues, retention of fluid, blood vessel injury and hemorrhage, damage to nerve fibers, and spinal cord distortion.
Cancers metastasizing to the spinal column damage the bones and other structures initially, possibly leading to the collapse of vertebrae segments. Neurologic problems occur as the tumor or bone debris press on the spinal cord or nerve roots feeding the nerves going out to the body.
Krishna Kishore’s metastatic spine (bone) tumor is in the thoracic
(chest-level) area. A small hole has developed on the surface of the skin, in the area of the Tumor and is hemorrhaging.

We are also in need of surgical cloves, sterile dressings, adult diapers and bed sheets.
