Health Update of H.H. Jayapataka Swami
Camp: ISKCON Ahmedabad, 25th Jan 2024.
Hare Krishna!
Dear disciples and well-wishers of H.H. Jayapataka Maharaja,
Please accept our humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
All glories to Guru Maharaja!
Srila Guru Maharaja recently traveled to Ahmedabad from Kolkata for attending Bureau meetings, right after returning from Agartala.
In Ahmedabad, doctors administered a blood transfusion to address his anemia and improve overall oxygen levels and fatigue.
Guru Maharaja also experienced blurry vision in his right eye initially attributed to a cataract, but further testing indicated a potential neurological issue. Over the past month, his kidney function has further declined. Additionally, blood pressure was elevated for a few days upon reaching Ahmedabad. During this period, Guru Maharaja was experiencing difficulty recalling words while speaking, and fatigue persisted.
Further tests revealed a minor stroke in the brain, which doctors believe is reversible with adequate rest and therapy.
Doctors advised against travel, especially by flight, to facilitate a speedy recovery and rehabilitation.
Early this morning, Gurumaharaj complained of moderate pain in the back and abdomen. Consequently, he was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Doctors are currently working to diagnose the cause of the sudden pain.
We will provide updates as soon as we have more information. However, we humbly request everyone to continue intense prayers for Guru Maharaja’s recovery and safe return to Sridham Mayapur as soon as he is fit for travel.
Thanking you all,
On behalf of the
JPS Health Team and Seva Committee
