ISKCON Hungary has experienced remarkable progress and accomplishments in 2024, showcasing its dedication to spreading Krishna Consciousness, promoting sustainability, and serving communities across the nation. From book distribution milestones to self-sufficiency initiatives, the organization has made significant strides in various areas.
Book Distribution: A Record-Breaking Year
The year 2024 marked an exceptional achievement in book distribution, with 71,446 books disseminated—a 17.5% increase from the previous year. The annual marathon alone saw 33,845 books distributed, reflecting a 10.6% growth compared to 2023. These efforts align with the vision of spreading Krishna Consciousness through Srila Prabhupada’s teachings, injecting spiritual wisdom into Hungarian society.
Prasadam Distribution: Feeding Thousands
ISKCON Hungary continued its impactful Food for Life (FFL) program, distributing approximately 900,000 plates of hot meals to homeless individuals and delivering 300 tons of raw food nationwide. This initiative not only addresses hunger but also introduces recipients to the spiritual practice of prasadam, fostering compassion and community care.
New Vraja Dhama: A Beacon of Sustainability
The New Vraja Dhama farm community demonstrated its leadership in ecological farming and self-sufficiency. In 2024, the community produced:
29,000 liters of milk,
300 bales of hay,
Various grains including wheat (6 tons), spelt (2.5 tons), barley (5 tons), rye (8 tons), and oats (6 tons),
Fruits such as apples (1,950 kg), plums (720 kg), and experimental crops like Indian bananas (5 kg).
The farm also expanded its agroforestry by planting 4.5 hectares and processed 620 m³ of firewood. Its Eco Valley Foundation hosted an eco-conference with 300 participants and published sustainability research materials, furthering education on ecological living.
Festivals: Celebrating Devotion
ISKCON Hungary hosted vibrant festivals throughout the year that attracted thousands of devotees:
Nrisimha Caturdasi and HH Sivarama Swami Vyasa-puja drew 700 attendees.
Janmastami celebrations welcomed 450 devotees.
Govardhana Puja gathered 660 participants.
These events fostered spiritual connection and strengthened community bonds.
Educational Initiatives: Bhaktivedanta College
Bhaktivedanta College in Budapest continued to excel as a state-accredited institution offering programs in Yoga Studies and Vaishnava Theology. In 2024:
Enrollment reached 310 students across BA and MA programs.
Faculty engaged in international collaborations, including guest lectures in Bhutan.
The college progressed toward university status by advancing doctoral qualifications among its staff.
Social Media Outreach: Expanding Influence
