On Wednesday the 6th of November Prime Minister David Cameron hosted a Diwali function at 10 Downing Street.
There were about 200 people in attendance and Mr Cameron spoke very positively about the significance of Diwali and in particular about Lord Ramachandra’s commitment to the principles of honesty, equality, fairness and service.
ISKCON was represented by Praghosa prabhu, Gauri prabhu, Vinay Tanna and Srutidharma prabhu. The latter chanted from the podium before Mr Cameron spoke finishing with the Mahamantra, these were the only prayers chanted at the event.
Some students from the Krishna Avanti school near the Manor also sang a couple of bhajans which were very warmly received.
Later the same day the devotees attending a second Diwali event host by the Labour party in the UK, the main opposition party to the government.
